Construction of the Giro Trans BOA

A successor to the Trans road shoe, the Giro Trans BOA packs a lot of updated essential features in its minimal package. The shoe’s breathable microfiber and mesh upper is fastened via a single BOA L6 dial retention system and a micro strap. This fastening provides a secure and highly adjustable system, even while on the road.

Down below, Easton EC70 carbon soles allow excellent power transfer thanks to their sufficient rigidity. Moreover, the soles are equipped with ventilation pockets and replaceable heel pads, which improves the shoe’s overall value.

Outsole

Superb rigidity. This footwear is sitting on an Easton EC70 carbon sole. This type of outsole is crafted using unidirectional carbon fiber engineered to supply direct connection to the pedal and first-rate stiffness. The combination of these two assists in the efficient transfer of power with every pedal stroke.

Improved ventilation. The sole features an air pocket protected by steel hardware. This feature allows the breeze to go through to cool the rider’s foot, especially in warmer weather.

Replaceable heel pads. Rubber pads are strategically placed in the toe and heel areas to aid in the wearer’s walking comfort. It provides stability and grip whenever they need to dismount off the bike. With the renewable heel pad, the shoe’s lifespan is extended.

Cleat System

The Giro Trans BOA features the usual 3-bolt road cleat design. It is compatible with the following pedal models: Shimano Dura-Ace R9100, Shimano PD-R540, Look Keo 2 Max Blade 12, and Time Xpresso 15.

This model also displays graphs in its outsole as marking to guide the wearer in optimal cleat positioning.

Upper

Breathable upper construction. Crafted from perforated microfiber with mesh inserts, this pair is not only ventilated underneath but throughout the upper as well. It easily lets air to enter and, in turn, heat to exit, which is beneficial when the temperature is high.

Cushioned collar and tongue. The top of the foot and the surrounding area of the ankle are treated to excellent comfort thanks to the padded tongue and collar.

Easy and precise adjustments. The midfoot area is locked down via a single BOA L6 dial. It allows fast and effortless fine-tuning even while on the saddle. The dial can be tightened in 1mm increments and fully released with a single button.

A set-and-forget micro strap secures the forefoot area for a more customized fit in the toe box.

Insole

A molded EVA footbed is designed to provide medium arch support. It supplies cushioning for your foot as you go on long rides.

Additional Info

  • This shoe’s predecessor featured a full Velcro closure system.
  • The tongue is padded along the center line and thins towards the ankle, providing an enhanced fit. The tips could also be cut so the tongue could rest and better conform to the shape around the ankle.
