Good to know
The Gauge by Giro is an athletic-inspired mountain bike shoe that’s both comfortable and adequately equipped for sessions on trails and roads. This shoe possesses the signature rugged soles of off-bike shoes and the athletic looks of running shoes.
With lugged rubber outsoles for grip and stout injected nylon inner shanks to aid in power transfer, sessions on the rugged trails are enjoyable. Cycling-specific features such as SPD-pedal compatibility, the rider is provided with a direct connection to his bike.
Grip and power transfer. With the Giro Gauge’s injected nylon plate inserted in the outsoles, efficient power transfer is delivered. While a full-length rubber outsole with aggressive lugs yields high-traction for grip and stability on smooth surfaces.
The Giro Gauge works with 2-bolt pedals and cleat systems such as Shimano XTR M9020 Trail SPD, Nukeproof Horizon CS CrMo, and Shimano XT M8000 XC Race Pedals.
Moreover, the shoe comes with a cover for the cleat area so the wearers can use it as a flat MTB shoe. If you choose to use it as a flat shoe, try the following pedals: Crank Brothers 5050 xx, Twenty6 Predator, and Race Face Chester.
Durable and lightweight. This pair’s upper is crafted from Thermo-bonded TPU and mesh. The TPU offers durability and protection, while the mesh allows excellent airflow. Overall, this construction equates to a lightweight build.
Protection. Equipped with rock print reinforced toe overlay and synthetic heel overlay, abrasions and impacts are deflected.
Time-tested lockdown. The Giro Gauge employs the classic lace-up closure. It offers unrivaled fit and is the lightest retention system in the market. A lace tuck is provided to keep the laces from getting caught in the bike’s crankset.
This footwear employs die-cut EVA footbeds with medium arch supports. They are removable so you can exchange it for another insole if needed.
An older version of the Giro Gauge features a Ratchet and Velcro strap combination for its closure system.
