Who is it for? The Five Ten Sleuth Slip-On can suit the casual cyclist. The only cycling element in this shoe is the essential grip and adequate transfer. This being said, riders can't use it for more technical pursuits.

What is it for? As mentioned above, this footgear is designed for light cycling activities such as the following:

  • Urban commutes
  • Light off-road cycling in the summer

Traction. The Five Ten Sleuth Slip-On features the brand's non-marking Stealth Marathon rubber technology for pedal grip. This rubber component is adequately sticky for casual rides and commutes.

Working in conjunction with the Stealth rubber is the Five Ten's classic Dotty tread design. This tread design is composed of big circles that perfectly interact with flat pedals.

The Sleuth Slip-On employs a flat outsole. It is compatible with the following flat MTB pedals: Deity T-Mac, Exotic Thermoplastic and Burgtec Penthouse Mk4 Composite.

Breathable. This pair's upper is made from canvas and mesh, which yields a lightweight and breathable fit.

Easy on and off. This pair is a slip-on shoe that offers its owners a no-fuss putting on and taking off.  To make wearing even easier, a heel loop tab is provided.

Collapsible heel area. The heel section of this bike shoe can be folded and stepped on to provide a slipper-like look and function.

Five Ten offers two types of Sleuth Slip-On offerings. One is this, the Sleuth Slip-On, while the other is the Five Ten Sleuth Slip-On Woven.

At one glance, it is possible that anyone mistaken one for the other. But one of its major differences can be seen in the upper's heel area. an entirely woven upper, while the Slip-On features a canvas heel area that can be folded or collapsed for an even comfier feel.

The less apparent difference is the tread design. The woven employs Five Ten's Micro-Dotty design, while the other uses the classic Dotty option.

These two shoes have very similar components, and choosing between the two might come down to whether you want a shoe with a collapsible heel. All in all, both are praised for their stylish designs, comfort, lightness and breathable build.
