Grip. The Five Ten Freerider EPS features the brand's Stealth S1 rubber outsole for traction. Aside from its sticky feature, it is also known for durability and vibration dampening.
This shoe features a flat outsole. Some of the suitable pedals for this pair are OneUp Composite Pedals, Crank Brothers Stamp 3 and Shimano XT PD-M8140.
Heat retention. The Freerider EPS employs PrimaLoft insulation from the upper's instep area forwards, including the tongue. PrimaLoft is marketed to provide a superior warmth-to-weight ratio, meaning it is lightweight but very effective.
Additional foam insulation is applied in the lining to improve the retaining of heat.
Weather-resistant. This pair's leather upper is applied with a DWR treatment. It works in conjunction with a fully gusseted tongue to prevent water, mud and other elements from going inside the shoe.
Comfort. The forefoot area is designed with single-piece leather to prevent rubbing and hot spots as well as water intake.
Additional insulation is provided by this pair's heat-reflective footboards. Apart from cushioning, it helps protect the foot from the cold as well.
The EPS in the shoe's name stands for Elements Primaloft System.
