Fila Silva Trainer: Product style
The '90s vibe continues to flourish in the concurrent decade evident with the spontaneous releases of dad shoes in the sneaker market. Fila made a bold move by jumping in with the relatively ridiculous trend.
Their sneaker of choice — the Fila Silva Trainer.
Its not-so-modest design gives hints of Air Max 98s visible in its upper with curvy accents with air pods resembling a mix of Shox technology and the coveted air bubble.
But enough of the Nike mumbo-jumbo because the Italian brand also had a promising era at the same time these Air Maxes were released.
Men and women are blessed with this fine and dandy running-inspired silhouettes which can be partnered with sporty clothes like joggers and leggings.
Those who would want to highlight the sneaker’s dad shoe imagery can wear them in skinny jeans or pants.
Notable features of the shoe
The wavy synthetic and leather teardrop elements on its upper is a sure-snatch head-turner. 2A cushion pods underneath the sneaker add dimension to its overall look.
Lastly, bold Fila logos are patched on the lateral sides and tongue of the sneaker.
The story behind the Silva Trainer from Fila
FIla was somewhat a powerhouse way back in the 90s thanks to its promising list of ambassadors including Grant Hill and Bjorn Borg.
Basketball and tennis were not only the platforms of sport that the Italian brand penetrated and incited to introduce running in their portfolio. Their athlete of choice was the Mexican long-distance runner named German Silva.
In the 1994 New York City Marathon, Silva took a wrong turn but recovered and finished first place. This promising feat lured Fila into drafting him as their apparel sponsor in the following months.
The company even made a shoe specifically for him, which is called the Fila Silva Trainer.
After decades, the Silva Trainer was resurrected in time when the chunky trend surfaced the streets.
It was officially unveiled in 2018 in numerous colorway options but, of course, the iconic white/red/navy combo is the most sought after.
