Updates to Danner Crater Rim
- The Danner Crater Rim is packed with features built for backpacking adventures. It has an upper made of nubuck and lined with Gore-Tex to offer optimal performance on the trails.
- For cushioning and support, it uses a polyurethane footbed and fiberglass shank. A bi-density cupsole enhances shock absorption and comfort. The Vibram rubber outsole, on the other hand, renders surface traction.
Size and fit
The Danner Crater Rim is a backpacking boot for men and women. Both variants come in medium (regular) width, with an additional wide option for men. It is shaped using the 610 last which is made true to size and designed for use with a full-length footbed. It offers a roomy forefoot through its wide and deep toe box while keeping a snug heel fit. Its lace-up closure permits fit customization.
The Danner Crater Rim features a Vibram Bifida outsole. It can adapt to most types of terrain thanks to the varying shapes and sizes of its lugs. Its self-cleaning profile sheds mud and channels trapped water out, preventing slips. The undercut heel assists hikers on steep descents. The flexion lines across the sole enhance its flexibility.
This mid-cut backpacking boot uses a cushioning polyurethane (PU) footbed to provide underfoot comfort. It is paired with a fiberglass shank to grant stability on bumpy grounds without hindering the boot’s flexibility. This structure sits atop a dual-density cupsole which promotes shock absorption, for a comfortable stride.
The velvety upper of the Crater Rim is due to its durable nubuck leather. It is breathable and waterproof, thanks to the incorporation of a Gore-Tex liner. Danner designers added a full rubber rand to heighten the boot’s durability and abrasion resistance.
Its six-inch high collar is padded for comfort. Its lacing hardware uses metal D-rings and a pair of studs at the top.
- This boot bagged the 2012 Gear of the Year Award of Outside Magazine.
