Good to know

  • Taking the reins from its predecessor the Ghost 8 GTX, the Brooks Ghost 9 GTX brings a modern look that’s appealing and agreeable to contemporary preferences. The minimal use of overlays makes it look less bulky or restrictive. Most of the sides and the front of the shoe feature thin printed overlays to help secure the foot. The open construction of the mesh material allows the air to easily keep the interior well-ventilated.
  • The fusion of two midsole technologies allows the platform to be very comfortable for the feet of the wearer. The responsive nature of the platform enables the foot to move more naturally through the gait cycle while also receiving reliable, full-length cushioning. Flex grooves help when it comes to making the mid-sole more reactive to the heel-to-toe transitions of the runner.
  • The durability of the outsole is very important because it keeps the mid-sole safe from the debilitating effects of wear and tear. Two separate rubber components are used in the Brooks Ghost 9 GTX in order to keep the runner performing superbly, while also providing sure surface control. The rubber compounds last long.

The GTX version of the Brooks Ghost 9 has a standard running shoe length. It comes in sizes that follow the regular measurement schemes. Men and women are able to get the correct fit that’ll suit their preferences. The available width is medium, thus accommodating those with medium sized feet. Its semi-curved shape adheres to the natural curve of the human foot.

HPR Plus is a rubber material that is highly resistant to abrasion. It is able to protect the mid-sole of the Brooks Ghost 9 GTX from the abrasive nature of the asphalt, extending the lifespan of the shoe and preserving its clean & appealing look.

Blown rubber is placed in the forefoot section of the outsole. As it protects the sole unit from wear, it also adds a bit of cushioning to each step. It has a responsive nature, which adds a bit of bounce to the toe-off.

The BioMoGo DNA foam technology, which is also present in the Brooks Ghost 11, is made from the fusion of two separate technologies, which are responsible for the high quality cushioning the runner gets while running. This mid-sole actually conforms itself to the shape of the wearer’s foot, their body weight, stance and running style. A custom underfoot experience is what the runner receives from the Brooks Ghost 9 GTX.

The S-257 Cushsole is a durable compound that is able to add more cushioning to the running. It is placed above the thicker mid-sole unit. Its flexible nature encourages natural movement.

The Omega Flex Grooves provide the runner with the means to flex their feet more naturally throughout the gait cycle. They make the platform move in accordance with the foot’s movements, but they do not diminish the cushioning system’s overall quality.

The GORE-TEX membrane is a waterproof material that keeps the upper unit shielded from water infiltration. It’s breathable, so it won’t let the cover system feel warm or stifling. This material is also present in some waterproof running shoes from Brooks.

The interior sleeve of the Brooks Ghost 9 GTX makes use of the Element Linings. It’s a soft fabric that is able to manage moisture, thus keeping the interior environment dry.

The minimal use of stitched-on overlays makes the upper unit of the Brooks Ghost 9 GTX look less bulky or restrictive of movement. A thin overlay system has been fused with the mesh to assist in hugging the foot more securely.
