Balenciaga Track Trainers History

A well-respected and patronized luxury brand by Spanish aristocrats, Balenciaga first ventured into creating sneakers to fulfill the demand of its growing high fashion clients for luxury footwear. With recent feats of its sneaker line from the Balenciaga Speed Trainers to Triple S, the Spanish couture brand continues to release signature pieces for its swiftly growing clientele whose tastes for signature brands and high fashion have been developing through the years.

Established in 1918 by designer Cristobal Balenciaga, the high fashion retail brand is now owned by French multinational firm Kering. The Kering Group currently owns luxury goods brands like Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Boucheron, and Alexander McQueen. The sneaker designs of the high luxury brand are known for their clean and straightforward aesthetics with often chunky soles and directional cuts.

The now Paris-based luxury fashion brand is currently under the creative direction of influential designer Demna Gvasalia whose eye for unique silhouettes and Avante Garde construction of clothing and footwear breathes new life to post-modernism in the French and international fashion scene.

The Balenciaga Track Trainers are a fitting follow-up to the success of the Speed Trainers and the Triple S which were both trendsetting silhouettes that sparked the sock-like sneakers and chunky-soled kicks trend among hypebeasts and fashionistas.

Continuing the success of the dad shoe trend, Balenciaga introduced the Track Trainers in the runway of as models strut in their Fall/Winter 2018 collection in what seemed like a silhouette that marches running and hiking kicks. The design is a bit leaner than the chunky-soled Triple S and had several layers and components in its design.

The Balenciaga Track Trainers was first dropped in Europe with an accompanying clothing line to match the footwear.  Balenciaga dropped the multi-layered design with a chunky ridged rubber sole, a round toe, a branded insole, a lace-up front fastening, a brand patch at the tongue and mesh panels. The newest model comes in several colorways for men and women.
