Good to know

  • Inspired by aviation and birds, Avia has been producing lightweight and comfortable shoes since 1979. The brand is known for its Cantilever sole, a structure that enhances the shock-absorbing ability of the midsole while making the platform more stable. This technology is present in all of the company’s shoes such as the Avi-Tangent.
  • The Avi-Tangent features a leather upper that provides support to the foot. It has a few perforations on the side of the toe box and heel sections for heat dissipation. The mesh lining underneath contributes to the overall breathability of the shoe.
  • As for the outsole, it utilizes a solid rubber material for durability and traction. An external shank reinforces the arch to encourage proper foot movement.

The Avia Avi-Tangent comes in both men’s and women’s sizes and runs true to size. It is available in D - Medium and 2E - Wide for the male version and in B - Medium for the female variant. The leather upper does not provide any stretch.

The Avi-Tangent utilizes a solid rubber outsole. This compound is hard-wearing, flexible, and grippy. It features shallow flex grooves that promote natural flexion and a tread pattern that enhances traction.

An external shank is employed in the arch area. Its purpose is to force the foot to bend at the forefoot to prevent discomfort or injuries.

The full-length CMEVA midsole provides the Avi-Tangent with shock absorption. This material is durable, flexible, and responsive.

The heel section houses two other components: the soft gel heel and the Cantilever. The gel component adds stability and cushioning to the midsole. As for the Cantilever technology, it delivers a bouncy feel for better energy return and shock attenuation with each stride. It can also be found in any training shoe from Avia.

A molded removable EVA insole lines the interior bottom of the shoe. It serves as another layer of cushioning that protects the foot from the force of impact. It also keeps the foot comfortable.

The Avia Avi-Tangent employs a synthetic leather upper. Due to the material’s lack of breathability, perforations were added to the heel and side of the toe box to allow the foot to cool off. It has sewn-in synthetic overlays that protect the high-wear areas such as the toe box, the side panels, and the heel.

A traditional lace-up closure keeps the foot locked inside the unit. The padded tongue is lined with mesh to ensure that the inside of the shoe does not get too hot. It also serves as a barrier, preventing the laces from digging into the instep. The tongue has a slot on top where the round laces pass through, so that the tongue will not slide to the sides or scrunch up to the front.

The inside walls of the shoe are lined with a soft mesh. This fabric allows the foot to slide in quickly as well as keep the inside from getting too hot.
