Overview of this review
Asolo Stynger GTX notable features
- The Stynger GTX is a supportive and protective Asolo offering built for multi-season use. Its armor-like upper is nested on the Duo Asoflex Lady lasting board which provides enhanced stride performance and comfort underfoot.
- Asolo engineers doubled down on its water protection. They did so by lining its water-repellent leather upper with a waterproof membrane from Gore-Tex.
- Its heavy-duty sole unit, which consists primarily of a single-density midsole and Asolo’s exclusive outsole, has a generous toe rocker. The inclusion of this forefoot feature translates to smoother push offs.
Size and fit
A mid-cut, relatively true-to-size Asolo boot for the female crowd is the Stynger GTX. It is offered in full and half sizes in standard width. Users can achieve a customized and secure fit in it via the shoe’s lace-up closure.
The Asolo Stynger GTX’s grippy proprietary outsole called Syncro is made with a combination of polyurethane (PU) and rubber. It uses multi-shaped lugs to give the wearer a secure footing on the trail, especially over parts where the terrain is either soft or mushy. The brand designers gave it a heel brake—a feature responsible for mitigating slips and skids during downhill traversals.
This hardwearing component slightly covers the footgear’s toe bumper for even more frontal protection. The ridges engineered on it may help hikers negotiate narrow ledges with extra sticking power.
When it comes to cushioning and stability, the Stynger GTX relies on its mono-density midsole. It is made of polyurethane or PU, a highly durable material capable of withstanding great stress and weight. The construction of its heel part is noticeably thick for improved shock absorption.
For even more comfort underfoot, designers from Asolo topped this robust yet cushy component with the Lite 2 footbed. It has a kind of contour that gives the adventurer extra rearfoot and medial support.
The ankle-supportive upper of the Stynger GTX is a combination of high-tenacity nylon and water-resistant suede leather which has a thickness ranging between 1.6 and 1.8 mm. It is lined with Gore-Tex’s Performance Comfort technology (also seen in the Asolo boots Drifter GV and Shiraz GV), making the shoe adequately breathable and watertight at the same. The reinforcement present at its forefoot, the footgear’s toe cap, is made of long-wearing rubber.
A round lace and combination eyelets make up the Stynger GTX’s lacing system. The lace is fully synthetic, while the lace tunnels and open hooks are metallic.
