Good to know

A lot can happen in a split-second, especially when you’re an Olympic gold wrestler like Jordan Burroughs. Thus, the JB Elite III is built to emulate the strength and swiftness of this world-class athlete.

The upper is structured to keep the foot securely locked in place. Meanwhile, the sole unit supports quick movements with its grippy nature and rounded edges.

Compared to the previous version, the JB Elite V2.0, the upper of the third iteration received a drastic update. It now employs a cage-like structure at the midfoot and panels at the collar for ankle support.

Meanwhile, in the JB Elite IV, the upper has once again been overhauled. It now features a softer mesh with updated synthetic overlays. It still has a reinforced collar and a Velcro lace garage. Another thing unchanged is the outsole construction.

Flexibility. The JB Elite III features a split-sole unit. This construction ensures unhindered foot bending when the wrestler charges forward or pins down his opponents. It also keeps the overall weight of the shoe at a minimum.

Traction. The rubber is confined at the ball and the heel sections, providing traction where it is needed the most. The serradial traction pods placed at the edges allow for smooth side-to-side movements.

Comfort. Locked and secure, that’s the feeling you’d get from the open mesh used on the Asics JB Elite III. This material promotes ventilation of the foot chamber so your feet won’t get too sweaty during intense matches.

Lockdown. Synthetic overlays cover a considerable portion of the top. It forms a cage in the midfoot, which aids in lateral stability. They also form a panel that externally wraps the collar to enhance the ankle hold.

Atop the tongue is the lace garage. It uses a Velcro strap to prevent the shoestrings from unraveling during a match.

Movement. Suede lines the bottom section of the upper and the middle portion of the outsole. The placement of this soft material allows the foot to easily slide when needed.

Fit. A traditional lacing system allows users to customize the fit and intensify the lateral hold if needed. The tongue and the collar are lined with soft padding, enhancing the foothold and preventing chafing.

  • Jordan Burroughs’ signature appears on the lateral side of the heel.
  • The name of the shoe is visible at the heel panel, while the JB logo is placed on the lace garage.
