Good to know

  • Foot stability is an essential aspect of the running session. While most runners have a natural anatomical balance on the ground, some require the help of footwear to fully appreciate a performance that is not limited due to implications of discomfort. The Asics GT 2000 8 GTX helps in such an endeavor as it is a product that counters overpronation.
  • The upper of the Asics GT 2000 8 GTX has been updated to be more breathable than the 7th iteration. The engineered mesh now displays an open-weave construction that ventilates the interior environment. The Gore-Tex® waterproof membrane is still present to stave off water infiltration.

The standard sizing schemes have become the basis of the creation of the GT 2000 8 GTX. Runners can get the shoe in their usual choices of size in mind. The elements that contribute to the quality of the sideways fit are the form-fitting upper and the semi-curved platform shape.

The outsole of the Asics GT 2000 8 GTX is made of AHAR® or Asics High Abrasion Rubber. This material is tasked with shielding the bottom part of the midsole unit from the abrasive nature of the surfaces. It has a dense yet not-so-heavy quality to permit it to maintain its form, even after many runs.

Flex grooves permit the forefoot section of the platform to bend in conjunction with the foot as it gears itself for the toe-off. The process of lifting the foot, after all, requires flexibility to fully encompass energy.

The front and rear portions are decoupled to limit the landing impact on the immediate area that involves the action. Discomfort is potentially averted by this configuration.

The midsole of the Asics GT 2000 8 GTX is made of FlyteFoam®, a technology that is touted to be springy yet lightweight. The job of this full-length piece is to cushion the footfalls and permit the foot to lift off the ground with ease.

The DuoMax® Support System is a supportive foundation near the midfoot section of the midsole. The job of this feature is to maintain the balance of the foot, staving off excessive inward rolling during the step.

GEL® is a silicone-based wedge in the heel section that helps with shock attenuation during the foot-strike.

The Trusstic System™ is a thermoplastic cage in the midfoot portion. It is tasked with bolstering the structural integrity of the platform while also ensuring that the tendons and muscles of the foot-pad aren’t overworked.

A sockliner made of ethylene-vinyl acetate is placed on top of the cushioning system. This offers a soft surface for the underside of the foot. It can be removed or replaced with a new one of the wearer wants to do so.

The upper of the Asics GT 2000 8 GTX features engineered mesh, a cloth-like material that offers form-fitting security and a breathable ride. The open-weave design is touted to be durable yet stretchy enough to handle the various stances the foot takes as it goes through the gait cycle. Many running shoe series have transitioned from traditional mesh to engineered mesh, including the updates to the Hoka One One Clifton line.

The Gore-Tex® waterproof membrane graces the silhouette. This technology is meant to preserve the cool and dry nature of the in-shoe environment by acting as a barrier against wetness. It also aims to maintain the breathable purpose of the upper unit.
