- Being the eighth iteration to the GT 2000 series, the shoe is designed to be much lighter than its predecessor, shedding off weight of nearly an ounce. With the shoe’s FlyteFoam® midsole, the shoe is also made softer than the GT 2000 7. To allow better ventilation into the shoe, its design includes a multi-directional engineered mesh material.
- To maintain the good qualities of the series, the GT 2000 8 still employs some of the features of its predecessor. This includes Asics’ well-known Gel™ technology that enhances the shock absorption qualities of the shoe while providing maximum comfort.
- Built to last long, the shoe is still graced with Asics’ renowned AHAR™ outsole which is known for being highly durable since it comes from rubber that’s built for car tires. It protects the shoe from highly abrasive materials.
The Asics GT 2000 8 is designed using standard sizing measurement for both men and women. Thus, you can purchase a pair of these road running shoes with your usual size preference.
The arch height of the Asics GT 2000 8 is medium to high. Directly affecting the fit of the shoe is its multi-directional engineered mesh upper which hugs the foot to provide a secure fit. For an adjustable fit, a lace-up closure is added to the shoe’s upper to ensure lockdown. The padding in the collar and tongue of the shoe not only provides a plush comfort, but it also helps keep the foot in place when running.
Acting as a protective layer of the heel area of the GT 2000 8 is the well-renowned technology from Asics which is the AHARPLUS™. This composition is made out of carbon rubber that’s usually utilized for car tires which suggests that this outsole element is very durable. It poses a significant level of abrasion resistance as it has abrasion resistance qualities that are three times greater than conventional rubber.
To complement the integration of the AHARPLUS™ in the shoe’s heel area, AHAR™ is also placed in the forefoot. It is made out of a blown rubber compound that possesses an abrasion resistance that’s two times higher than most rubber materials. It provides a responsive underfoot cushioning that contributes to the comfort delivered by the shoe as it deploys a sponge-like construction. Because of such composition, it also boosts the flexibility of the shoe to allow free movement of the foot.
Efficient and easy transitions are very critical to the performance of the shoe that is why horizontal flex grooves are incorporated into the outsole. This element of the Asics GT 2000 8 also increases the flexibility delivered by the shoe.
The rearfoot Gel™ technology attenuate the impact during heel strike while allowing for a smoother transition throughout the gait cycle. Strategically placed in the forefoot area, the Gel™ improves the shock attenuation during forward movement. Both technologies deliver cushioning to increase comfort.
FlyteFoam™ midsole technology is composed of EVA and is recognized for delivering a lighter and a more cushioned ride. It is composed of built-in organic super fibers that maintains the Asics GT 2000 8’s cushioning. This midsole technology runs full-length and provides exceptional bounce and responsiveness, regardless of distance.
With reduced weight, the Dynamic DuoMax™ system of the GT 2000 8 reduces stress on the foot. It is constructed with a firm sponge, enhancing stability and support. It basically controls inward rolling of the heel, preventing any foot injury from happening.
The Trusstic™ system provides stability to the shoe, preventing it from twisting during movement. It is lightweight and permits additional torsional rigidity.
The forefoot cushioning of the shoe features a gender-specific construction. It uses an injected top layer of Solyte™ cushioning for added comfort.
Lastly, a molded EVA sockliner is situated in the midsole of the shoe to further the comfort of the shoe by providing additional cushioning. It also has antibacterial properties that reduce odor and moisture.
Used as the upper coverage of the Asics GT 2000 8 is the multi-directional engineered mesh material. It hugs the foot, providing a secure fit and stability. The upper construction of the shoe is narrow in the midfoot and wide in the forefoot, allowing toes to splay out. It allows airflow into the shoe, enhancing ventilation.
The Heel Clutching System™ of the shoe restricts displacement which is referred to as the “clutching” action as it provides better fit between the shoe and the heel. This enhances the stability and performance of the shoe.
Furnished to the upper is a lace-up closure that supplies a customizable fit to the foot while providing security. Discrete eyelets of the lacing system are independently placed, dispersing tension, thus enhancing comfort.
The padding on the tongue and collar of the shoe delivers a plush in-shoe experience.
The first model of the Asics GT 2000 series was launched back in 2012, following the success of the Asics GT 2170. The shoes coming from the renowned Asics GT 2000 series are mid-priced stability shoes.
GT 2000 8 is available in both medium and wide widths for women. Shoes in the medium width are available in 6 different colors: Watershed Rose/Rose Gold; Piedmont Grey/White; Diva Pink/White; Blue Coast/White; Black/Sheet Rock; Black/Rose Gold. For the shoes in the wide width, they are available in 2 different colors: Black/Rose Gold; Watershed Rose/Rose Gold.
For men, the shoe is available in medium, wide, and extra wide widths. For shoes with medium width, there are 8 different colors available: Black/Black; Sour Yuzu/Black; Smoke Blue/Black; Piedmont Grey/Black; Grand Shark/Black; Electric Blue/Black; Black/White; Black/Sheet Rock. For the wide width and extra wide width versions of the shoe, they are both available in the same color: Grand Shark/Black.
