Good to know
Complete shielding from water infiltration is the name of the game when it comes to the Asics Gel Sonoma 3 GTX. This model features a sporty construction that leans more towards the uncluttered yet taut form of modern performance shoes. The Gore-Tex® layer is the protective element of the upper. Complementing the for-all-conditions silhouette is a supportive midsole and an aggressive outsole.
The standard sizing measurements were used when the Asics Gel Sonoma 3 GTX was made. Runners are welcome to get this Asics trail running shoe with their usual choices of size in mind. Still, it would be beneficial to have personal testing of this shoe or observation of other users’ reactions about the aspect of size.
The outsole unit of the Asics Gel Sonoma 3 GTX is made of AHAR® or Asics High Abrasion Rubber. This technology is meant to protect the midsole from the potentially damaging nature of the trails. Surface traction is also something that this layer provides as it has a grippy configuration that helps the shoe when it comes to adhering to the unpredictable topography.
SpEVA™ is a full-length cushioning unit that is touted to be lightweight and durable. The job of this midsole feature is to cushion the foot throughout the running session, then attenuate impact shock during the striking phase. Propelling power is also a part of its repertoire as it energizes the foot during the toe-off part of the step.
Gel® is a silicon-based piece that is placed in the heel part of the platform. This add-on is meant to heighten the ability of the midsole to mitigate the landing impact, thereby yielding smooth steps. Gel® is a component of many series from Asics, including the highly revered Gel Nimbus line.
The upper unit of the Asics Gel Sonoma 3 GTX uses mesh. This material is tasked with holding the foot in place and keeping it secure. It has small holes to accommodate air into the foot-chamber.
Gore-Tex® is a membrane that protects the interior compartment of the shoe from getting wet. This waterproof material also preserves breathability because it has micro-pores that keep water out but permit airflow.
A blend of stitched-on and printed overlays grace the back, the sides, and the front of the silhouette. These layers bolster the structure of the shoe while also helping to lock the foot in place.
Reflective elements are added to some portions of the upper to make the shoe visible in low-light conditions.
