Profile of the Asics Gel Resolution 7
Pro players like French athlete Gael Monfils who enjoy explosive games have turned to the Asics Gel Resolution 7 and relied on its stability. This shoe is built with Asics’ signature Gel technology plus other supportive components as seen in the earlier models.
Compared to its predecessor — the Gel Resolution 6 — the improved Gel Resolution 7 has a more sleek-looking upper with the use of the proprietary Flexion Fit upper. This form-fitting overlay provides a streamlined appearance without sacrificing support.
The Gel Resolution 7 also has a gender-specific cushioning system that caters to female consumers. Since it favors the typical anatomical structure of women’s feet, this system is meant to give them the flexibility to move on the court using a low-density midsole compression.
It carries some of the standout features that avid Gel Resolution fans have come to love with the earlier iteration. These elements include the hard-wearing AHAR outsole, the lightweight Solyte sponge, the responsive SpEVA 45 foam compound, and the proprietary Gel pads.
More importantly, this athletic footgear features the Impact Guidance System, which is considered to be one of the sophisticated stability footgear structures produced by Asics. Included in this innovative engineering concept are the Trusstic System, the Duomax, and the Guidance Line.
Durability. The durable outsole is constructed using the AHAR (Asics High Abrasion Rubber) Plus, which is purposefully placed in high-wear zones. The strength of this rubber compound is around three times higher than the conventional rubber outsoles. Given such power, the AHAR can provide users the flexibility to move around the court speedily.
Flexibility. Under the IGS (Impact Guidance System), Asics has incorporated the Guidance Line system, which aids in increasing stability during directional changes. Well-engineered vertical grooves are placed from the outer sole in the heel to the toe. This ingenious concept allows the center of pressure to be concentrated along these grooves to achieve a smooth toe-off and landing.
Warranty. The Gel Resolution 7 has a 6-month outsole durability warranty. If the outsole doesn’t hold up within 6 months from the time of purchase, it can be replaced with a brand new pair. Some of the exclusions are accidental damage and improper care.
Support. The middle section of the sole offers stability through several sources. One is the IGS. This cutting-edge technology consists of a series of mechanisms that are meant to improve one’s natural gait during tennis matches.
To inhibit unwanted ankle movements, Asics added an extra heel counter. Complementing this is the Trusstic System, a high-tech process that promotes stable movements using a resin structure in the midfoot. Its shape is tailored explicitly for tennis by emphasizing lateral support. It not only helps keep the foot in place but facilitates smooth landings as well.
Right below the arch is the Duomax firm support feature that actively reduces stress from the foot as it evens out the foot plane and prevents inward rolling.
Cushioning. As its name suggests, the Gel Resolution 7 is equipped with the trademark Gel pads which are accurately located in the rear and forefoot. These components are embedded in such ways to cushion the ball of foot and heel, the sections of the foot that are prone to impact during foot strikes. As the gel units absorb shock during foot movements, these soft materials also prevent potential impact-related injuries.
Another source of comfort comes from the Solyte cushioning property, which is one of the lightest forms of EVA compound used in tennis shoes. Although light, it maintains its functionality. This midsole unit is designed to provide maximum energy return when serving and propelling towards the net and all corners of the court.
Complementing the Solyte unit is the SpEVA sponge that’s placed in the midsole to enhance the shock absorption properties of the shoe. It can improve rebound by 20 percent as compared to the standard EVA midsole.
Fit. The noticeable difference between the Asics Gel Resolution 7 and its predecessor lies in the upper structure. This newer profile is assembled using the form-fitting Flexion Fit technology. This added layer of support is designed to respond to every movement and is also meant to give players the freedom to perform quick cuts and dynamic court actions.
The collar section is assembled using the PHF (Personal Heel Fit) technology, a memory foam device that hugs around the ankle and Achilles for improved support and comfort.
Protection. Since foot drags are inevitable in tennis, Asics utilized a polyurethane material to work as a toe protector, aptly called the PGuard. This added layer is intended to provide more life to the shoe, specifically the front area.
This 7th generation Asics Gel Resolution also features an anti-gravel tongue which is designed in such a way to prevent dirt and debris from entering easily inside the shoe.
- The proprietary Gel technology has been used in Asics performance shoes since 1986, starting with a running shoe named the Asics GT-II. This soft Gel pad is the brand’s version of Nike’s Air cushioning.
- A variation of the Asics Gel Resolution 7 that’s fitted for soft courts is the Asics Gel Resolution 7 Clay.
