Size and fit

The Asics Gel Citrek is available in both men’s and women’s sizing. It is vital to keep in mind one’s snug preference, and as to whether one opts to wear this with socks or not regularly.

While the EVA sock liner is undetachable, it can mold to the shape of the wearer’s feet for a more customized fit.

Just like with every mesh-covered Asics footwear, the Gel Citrek’s flexible mesh-leather upper allows for ventilation. Giving an added breathability is the mesh lined-insole.

Asics Gel Citrek Style

Whether one’s use for putting on the Gel City Trek athletic sneaker is for outdoor adventures or just a daily metropolitan bustle, earthy tones or pops of color afford the wearer some flexibility when it comes to picking out pieces of clothing to go with this trainer.

  • Showcase a slick rugged-looking wardrobe by putting on an olive green cargo pocket trousers, salmon peach shirt, and the Asics Gel Citrek in blue/grey/black or black/grey with some hits of neon yellow.
  • Look casually cool running errands in skinny jeans, a simple tee, and a white/black/sea green pair of Gel Citrek.

Notable Features

In the same vein with some of Asics’ running-inspired range, the Gel Citrek is predominantly enveloped in durable ripstop mesh and leather upper, giving it that outdoorsy appeal. Leather overlays on the eyestay and toe bump provide added reinforcements where most of the brunt takes place.

Sandwiched between the textile and sock liner is an internal heel counter that provides stability and movement support.

Asics Gel Citrek History

In the eighties, shoe manufacturers were busy developing various technologies that can be incorporated into its shoe designs. Nike had its air technology. Asics had GEL® technology.

As an alternative to the impact-minimizing air systems, which Nike already did with its Nike Air Max 1, Asics tapped Japanese company, Taica, for its silicone-based gel for its running shoes. The substance, named Alpha Gel, was successfully used in ballpoint pens and rocket technology.

Asics injected the Alpha Gel into the EVA midsoles of its running shoes and released its pioneering gel-infused in 1986 through the Asics GT-II and was an instant hit.

Venturing into the lifestyle sneaker niche, Asics continued injecting the Gel cushioning. A cross between running and casual culture is the Gel City Trek. Taking essential details from its heritage trail-running line and modernizing it to suit the present-time practical sneaker wearers.

Nice to know
