Good to know

The Superstar 80s x Metropolitan has the general comfortable fit and runs true to size like all Superstar 80s design. This mid-cut skate shoe is kept tight by a classic lacing system and leather tongue. The sneaker is available in sizes for men and women.

A limited-edition entry to the Superstar 80s, the Adidas Superstar 80s x Metropolitan, is a luxurious take on the classic Adidas 80s from the Originals collection. With the Superstar 80s regularly associated with the hip hop culture and the streetwear culture, this collaboration will further expand the sneaker brand’s influence on the skate culture.

The classic silhouette of the 1980s most popular sneaker is incorporated with Italian snakeskin leather and gold accents that represent the East Coast style. This timeless sneaker design is versatile and will continue its popularity as more people are getting into the streetwear scene for the past years.

The limited-edition Adidas Superstar 80s x Metropolitan is a new colorway for the iconic Superstar 80s. It speaks elegance, class, and style with its all-white low top in premium leather and a stunning green Italian snakeskin leather making up the lateral’s Three Stripes. The rear heel tab also matches the green snakeskin; however, it is cut 50/50 with half the patch in light tan snakeskin.

This transitions into the medial with matching Three Stripes in light tan Italian snakeskin leather, creating a split-design to the shoe. Gold accents appear on the tongue with the Adidas trefoil and “Metropolitan USA” custom branding on the lateral mid. The gum toe shell and rubber gum sole add a nice contrast that finishes the look.

Adidas Skateboarding collaborated with the iconic East Coast skate brand Metropolitan USA and released a limited edition Superstar 80s. The Adidas Superstar 80s x Metropolitan celebrates the two brands’ mutual history. The timeless Adidas Superstar, starting as a pro basketball shoe in 1969, was widely known in the hip hop subculture during the 1980s (most notably by Run DMC) and became a streetwear staple in the late 20th century. Metropolitan USA, emerged with its distinct urban style from the East Coast in the 1990s. The brand was reignited by Keith and Hanni El Khatib in 2017, which ultimately led to the 2019 partnership with Adidas to showcase the true East Coast style.

Skateboarding has always been part of other subcultures in one way or another. It’s no surprise that skateboarders from the East Coast, where hip hop culture was influential, attracted them to the Adidas Superstar. It makes sense that the Adidas Skateboarding x Metropolitan USA collaboration on the Superstar 80s captures the design that many Metropolitan pros skated with back then.

  • The pair comes in three sets of laces.
  • There’s a gold foil “Metropolitan USA” detail at the sidewall.
  • A unique Italian Snakeskin Three Stripes in Crystal White and Collegiate Green detail is found on the lateral and medial side of the pair.
