Size and fit

The fit is such a big thing with the NMD line and the Adidas NMD_R2 Summer possess this characteristic well. The knit upper that it is outfitted with lets the foot flex and breathe comfortably while giving a nice sock-like fit. Laces can also be found with the sneaker for the customized tightness or looseness.

The shoes come in sizes for men, from 4 to 14 US. Women who want to own the summer kicks can get them by downsizing from their regular fit by a size and a half.

Adidas NMD_R2 Summer Style

Staying true to the “Summer” in its name, the NMD_R2 Summer is a low top sneaker that embodies this so well with the colorways available. One color scheme that catches attention is the orange variant flecked with a black welded 3-Stripes and a white boost midsole. The orange dominates the Primeknit upper with turquoise laces and heel pull tabs giving it an edge.

Meanwhile, the Adidas NMD_R2 Summer in crystal white/orange/green don’t disappoint either. The upper, the midsole, and even the welded 3-Stripes are decked in shades of crystal white, while the laces and heel pull tab come in orange. For a little turquoise green, the nubuck accent that keeps the heel tab in place easily contrasts it all out.

Versatile and easily stylable, the simplicity in the sneaker makes it a good match with jeans and shorts, as well as joggers, leggings, and those nice summer or cotton dresses for the ladies.

Notable Features

With an NMD sneaker, a notable feature would most likely be the usage of Primeknit and a Boost midsole but for this iteration of the Adidas NMD_R2, the Summer is basically the highlight, the colors definitely taking center stage. Integrated together with everything that makes the NMD_R2 Summer the gem that it is, the sneaker is elevated to a whole new level.

Adidas NMD_R2 Summer History

With one look at the Adidas brand and its story, one can instantly say that Adidas was always on the path to success and fame. As it entered a new era, the brand has come up with some great innovations for its sneaker. One great line that has garnered the attention of most sneakerheads is the NMD line. Adidas’ NMD line takes on the Primeknit and Boost invention very well.

In the year 2015, a year when tech was king, Adidas released the NMD in December, a month shy from the new year. An interesting thing to take note of with the NMD is that for the designers to actually come up with it, they had to use three different Adidas models. The three models used are the Rising Star, the Micro Pacer, and the Boston Super. Merging the three together, the NMD has been stripped down to the bare necessities, the parts that truly make it functional but elegantly done so. In doing this, Adidas was led to create the NMD_R1. The sneaker was well received, especially with the utilization of Primeknit for the upper and the Boost for the sole.

To say it was a success of a shoe would be an understatement. It sold out instantly and the clamor for more was widely heard by Adidas and a year after, the Adidas NMD_R2 was released. This iteration may not be as popular as its predecessor, but it still holds its own very well. Always on the go to innovate though, Adidas has recently released the Adidas NMD_R2 Summer, a seasonal Adidas NMD_R2 variant that kicks it up with its color and style. For it, the NMD plugs have been removed from the lateral side, and on the medial side, a midsole block has been put in place. It’s a sure head turner that has many wanting to cop a pair for sure.
