Adidas Nizza Hi RF History

Initially introduced in 1975 as a basketball shoe, the Adidas Nizza Hi was the Trefoil brand’s response to the Converse All Star. It was originally created as a shoe that is both for leisure and athletic purposes but for a good price. Eventually, it became more associated with basketball where it was more recognized and became one of the favorite kicks among multiple sub-cultures.

Throughout time, the Nizza Hi has undergone multiple alterations on its design. In 2020, the brand launched a few of its modified versions. Among these notable variations was the Adidas Nizza Black/Red/Gold-Green in which the shoe displays a Rasta-like design with its black canvas upper and its Three Stripes branding on the side in Red, Gold, and Green.

Also in 2010, the Trefoil brand collaborated with Jeremy Scott and gave the silhouette some fresh touch-ups. A few of the products of this collaboration was the tasseled and the sequined Nizza Hi. In 2013, Adidas introduced the Adidas Nizza Hi “Basketball Leather.” The model displays a brown pebbled leather upper with all the other parts of its other in tonal-brown, then a contrasting white midsole, and finished off with a gum sole. The Three Stripes brand re-issued the original 1975 Adidas Nizza design in 2017 for both the high-top and the low-top. Adidas used the same shape, materials, and colorways for the re-issued model.

The Adidas Nizza was yet again given another modification and the Trefoil brand introduced the Adidas Nizza Hi RF. According to the brand, this version of the classic silhouette is a “rework of an 80s basketball design” where they took from a “fresh and modern” perspective. The sneaker comes in a tonal off-white and a black with contrasting white stitching details and white midsole colorways.
