Size and fit

The Adidas EQT Gazelle men’s and women’s sneaker has a classic lace-up closure that ensures a tight fit. Wearers can enjoy the freedom of ankle movement with the shoe's low-cut design. The upper is made up of leather material for an extra-durable and supportive structure.

Adidas EQT Gazelle Style

Several colorways have been released for the low-top Adidas EQT Gazelle trainers. The options include crystal white/core black/shock pink, collegiate navy/silver metallic/solar yellow, and white/navy/lime, among others. Notably, the shoe has a retro yet trendy appeal that makes it suitable for a wide range of casual outfits.

It has a chunky-looking midsole and a funky upper design, both for adding a unique touch to any everyday look. For a sporty ensemble, pair the sneaker with track pants, joggers, leggings or shorts. A tank top, crop top, sweatshirt, or T-shirt should complete the look. Meanwhile, for any laidback occasion, wear the kicks with a pair of jeans or shorts.

Notable Features

With modern details, the Adidas EQT Gazelle sneakers retain a vintage-inspired appeal. The upper is made up of durable leather, while the tongue is made up of breathable mesh. It comes with bright details for a retro touch, including a hologram tongue logo and a two-color EVA midsole. Additionally, the midsole has a chunky look, perfect for the retro trends of today.

Classic branding accents include the Trefoil logo on the tongue and heel. The Three Stripes logo is found on the sides. It's complemented by a wavy, bright-colored leather overlay that mimics the design. Additional vintage branding is located on the heel tab.

Adidas EQT Gazelle History

In 1924, Adolf and Rudolf Dassler established the Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory, the company which would eventually become Adidas. The brand became known for its innovative shoes. In 1936, the company received worldwide attention when it outfitted the American sprinter Jesse Owens with running spikes.

Despite such successes, the partnership between the two brothers didn’t last. They never saw each other eye to eye until their relationship soured beyond repair. As a result, Adolf “Adi” Dassler renamed the company Adidas, while his older brother Rudolf left the company and established his own brand, Puma.

Over the years, Adidas has become a leading name in sports and lifestyle footwear, in addition to apparel and other accessories. The brand’s Three Stripes and Trefoil logos are as iconic as the sneakers that they have made.

The rise of the minimalistic Adidas EQT collection

In 1991, on the brink of near bankruptcy, Adidas decided to launch a new line of shoes. The idea was spearheaded by Peter Moore, known for his designing the groundbreaking Air Jordan 1. This new line of kicks came to be known as the Adidas EQT, or Equipment, which was created with a straightforward philosophy of purpose.

The new collection was launched under the Adidas Originals label. It notably featured a stripped-down look, keeping only the essentials to create a solid line of sneakers. With such a no-nonsense approach, the brand ensured that only practical and innovative materials were used.

Years later, Adidas revisited the EQT series and re-introduced them as inspired by basketball and running footwear. As such, the current lineup features classic elements, while staying true to its ethos of minimalism and functionality.

The reissue of the Adidas EQT Gazelle

Adidas is also known for taking inspiration from its archives to create fresh kicks. Such is the case with the Adidas EQT Gazelle from the Originals series, an updated model with heritage design cues. It was inspired by the Equipment Gazelle, first released in 1999. This retro shoe was one of the brand’s boldest running designs at the time.

Now, the athletic design has been revived for the men and women of today. It has a supple leather upper combined with bright hues, giving the sneaker an authentic late 1990s and early 2000s look. It can be a perfect addition to any retro collection.
