Tretorn has come a long way since its founding more than a century ago. The company is known for creating shoes that are stylish and comfortable and, at the same time, can withstand the harsh Scandinavian weather.

The company started on January 3, 1891 in Helsingborg, Sweden. Back then, it was manufacturing galoshes for farmers to help their feet stay warm despite the cold weather. Five years later, Tretorn has produced 1 million galoshes.

In 1900, Tretorn produced their first ever rubber sole sneaker, which began a new era for the company. But it was only after 30 years that Tretorn sneakers made a global breakthrough in the shoe industry. It was during the 1930s that sneakers became very popular all over the world, making Tretorn a globally known brand.

Twenty-five years later, the brand launched a remake of the Tretorn Tournament as an on-court tennis shoe. During the early 60s, Tretorn also released another tennis sneaker with a sturdy rubber toe cap and a 3-layered pimpled sole, which was aptly named as the Racket.

Another sneaker, the Nytelite, was launched in 1967. It became a favorite among the popular crowd with Björn Borg and Martina Navratilova as some of the tennis stars who were seen wearing the luxury kick. When Borg wore the Nytelite at the Wimbledon and US Open, the sneaker rose to celebrity status.

Fast forward to 2019, the Tretorn Tournament was relaunched in a modern eco design. Several iterations were released, including the Tretorn Tournet4. It comes in the same low-top construction but with a fresh, contemporary vibe.

  • The Tretorn Tournet4 weighs 283 grams.
  • This sneaker has a padded insole for a smooth ride.
