Mid-top sneakers extend toward the ankle for a little more support and hold. These lie somewhere in the middle between low-top and high-top sneakers in terms of usage and popularity.
Sneakers with collars that go above the ankles for optimal hold and support are some of the most sought-after models in lifestyle shoes. Most of these shoes take their roots from basketball and have easily or fashionably crossed to mainstream wear.

Tretorn Eve History
Swedish businessman Johan Dunker established Tretorn in 1891. The name means “Three Towers,” a reference to the company’s original factory building in Helsingborg. During its early days, the business produced tires and galoshes, the latter of which became very popular within the military community as well as with local villagers.
From these humble beginnings, Tretorn expanded its offerings to include tennis balls, bicycle pedals, and hoses, among others. It was unusual at the time to have such a diverse production, making the brand a pioneering one. Eventually, the company transitioned into sports footwear, introducing to the word the Nylite sneaker in the 1960s. It was the first luxury sports shoe of its kind, enabling Tretorn to become known as a sophisticated brand.
Since then, the brand has produced many reliable, stylish, and innovative models, such as the low-top Tretorn Eve. It melds the classic appeal of an espadrille with the comforts and functionality of a sneaker, offering a fresh and unique look. It showcases Tretorn’s knack for fusing different styles to create a modern classic.
While it can be used for a preppy look, this model is also appropriate for any street style outfit. It has a fringe canvas upper that gives it an almost deconstructed look, while the platform sole provides the shoe with a casual yet elegant flair. It's a must-have for the summer and spring seasons for women who want a sensible pair of kicks that can create chic everyday looks.
Tretorn Eve Style
The Tretorn Eve has a platform sole and a raw canvas appearance, making it look laidback, perfect for different everyday activities. It’s especially suitable for the summer season when it can be paired with light dresses, skirts or shorts, along with simple t-shirts for a relaxed appearance. Its rope midsole lends a tropical vibe to the shoe, making it ideal for trips, walking around, or for any casual function. Pairing these shoes with a floppy hat made of straw or felt can complete any summer or spring outfit.
Fit & Sizing
A durable fit can be expected from the canvas upper of the Tretorn Eve. It’s available in women’s sizes, ranging from 4-12 in medium width. Although it’s said to fit according to size, a couple of users found the sizing too big and went a half size down. It’s constructed as a low-top to offer freedom of ankle movement. Laces keep the fit snug, securing the foot inside.
An eye-catching platform espadrille style is featured in the Tretorn Eve. It also has a canvas upper with fringe details for an unfinished look. Stitched on the top at the midfoot is the brand’s trademark gullwing design. The tonal lace-up closure is completed with metal eyelets for a preppy accent. Esparto rope is on the elevated midsole, while the rubber outsole keeps things durable. For an elegant finish, the Tretorn logo is seen on the tongue.
