The Flume Waterproof boot will serve you just as well when you mount that earth mover as it will when you sling your backpack over your shoulders before heading off into the wild.

  • The Flume Mid Waterproof boot, named after Flume Gorge—a natural chasm located in New Hampshire, is designed to perform on trails be they rocky or well-maintained.
  • This Timberland hiker underwent seam sealing. This kind of construction “seals” the boot’s stitch holes and seams to further enhance the gear’s ability to stay watertight.

An adequately true-to-size, mid-cut day hiking boot for men is the Flume Mid Waterproof from Timberland. It is offered in widths D – standard and 2E – wide. Its sizing options are comprised of a number of full and half sizes. The hiker’s lace-up closure allows users to achieve a secure and dialed-in fit.

The Timberland Flume Mid Waterproof is capable of providing ample surface traction thanks to its sturdy outsole made of rubber. The geometry of its low-profile lugs gives multi-directional grip on loose soil. It has a heel zone that grants extra control and stopping power on steep descents. Its front end goes all the way up to the tip of the forefoot, giving wearers some form of protection against toe-related injuries.

A compression-molded EVA midsole is what enables hikers to keep their balance over uneven terrain. It has a cushy yet tough construction to provide users with sufficient shock absorption and underfoot comfort. Timberland engineers paired this stabilizing platform with a removable footbed (also made of EVA) for extra cushioning.

This day hiking gear encases the foot in its seam-sealed upper made of premium waterproof leather. The black and dark brown colorways use full-grain, while the wheat one uses nubuck. It is engineered with a gusseted tongue to fence out debris and other intrusive terrain particles. Its closure system is comprised of metallic hooks and D-rings for eyelets and synthetic laces.
