Size and fit
The North Face Surge HighGate LS is available in both men’s and women’s sizing. Similar to most casual shoes with mesh uppers, this slip-on/lace-up sneaker is breathable. At the same time, the lightweight Ortholite® Eco LT insole gives an added ventilation factor and keeps moisture away from the foot, keeping it odor-free.
The North Face Surge HighGate LS Style
Combining leather and mesh for the upper on this outdoor-inspired footwear allows one to style this from the confines of the office to the buzzing of the bar. With color schemes available in earth tones, like black and brown, among others, one need not worry about the clothing pieces to wear this with.
Taking inspiration from TNF’s Equipment line is the eyebrow detailing that gives it a more rugged appeal. Additionally, depending on the colorway, contrasting woven shoe strings that look similar to hiking boots give that cross-over between the outdoors and the metropolis.
An elastic gore wraps the heel counter with TNF’s dome-inspired branding on the lateral side.
For firm traction, these lace-up-and-go shoes feature The North Face’s proprietary EXTS™ outsole traction system. Derived from renewable, plant-based sources, this system grips better on wet and dry surfaces.
The North Face Surge HighGate LS History
Founded by two Californian hiking enthusiasts, The North Face was established as a retailer of high-performance climbing and backpacking equipment in 1968.
The ever outdoor adventurers they are, they named their company The North Face, which, in the Northern Hemisphere, the north face of a mountain is the most grueling path to climb.
To represent this passion and dedication to the extreme outdoors, the logo is inspired by one of the greatest big walls in the world -- Half Dome, located in Yosemite, California. This rock formation, wherein one side is flat, while the other three sides are round, make it appear like a dome cut in half.
From outdoor clothing and equipment, TNF has expanded its product range to tents, sleeping bags, and various sporting equipment.
After a successful reception of the Surge HighGate running shoe, the brand launched a casual model in the form of The North Face Surge HighGate LS. LS, meaning lifestyle, takes on a leather fabric to cover the area and make it suitable for the urban explorers of today.
