I found them supremely comfortable, but the design of the backstrap there was a deal breaker for me.
Overall these are quality sandals that should last well.
- The Toachi 2 is a sturdy footgear built for hikers who require a sense of security on the trail without the unnecessary weight. It is among Teva’s line-up of vegan footwear, which means it contains no animal substance in its makeup.
- It is treated with a zinc-based anti-microbial technology courtesy of Microban. This treatment prevents stink by proactively fighting off odor-causing bacteria.
- This Teva gear offers sufficient terrain protection and security with its hardwearing sole unit that consists of the following: a cushy midsole with an integrated footbed and a company-exclusive outsole. It is engineered with a rockered toe for smoother push offs.
Teva’s Toachi 2 is a multi-sport sandal for both men and women. Its fit, which the brand considers true to size, is targeted at hikers with regular-width feet. It comes in a range of full and half sizes. A personalized lockdown comes by way of the sandal’s three adjustable straps.
Granting wearers the right amount of traction in the Toachi 2 is the footwear’s rubberized outsole, called Spider Original. It is built with grooves and low-profile lugs to provide additional slip and skid resistance on tricky surfaces. The lugs situated along its borders are engineered in such a way that gives extra grip during off-camber maneuvers.
The Teva Toachi 2 is furnished with a heavy-duty midsole for terrain protection and stability. As it is made of EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate), this sturdy yet flexible component has high resilience and is adequately capable of bearing weight and stress. A nylon stiffener called shank is encapsulated within its medial zone for additional support around the arch area. Two proprietary technologies are present in this cushy layer: Shoc Pad and Drain Frame. The former doubles down on shock absorbency and adds a spring to the user’s step, while the latter channels out water from the footbed via the seams around the Shoc Pad unit.
Its footbed, a non-removable sort, provides enhanced comfort. Teva engineers opted to give it a textured surface, which resembles alligator skin, to help prevent underfoot slippage.
Donning this Teva hiker means being seen in its strappy synthetic upper. Its interior delivers extra comfort thanks to its padded liner. Slipping in and out of it is made more convenient with the presence of a pull loop at its heel.
The sandal’s closure system is made up of three adjustable straps, all of which are engineered with hook-and-loop fasteners (Velcro-like pads). Its ankle strap comes built with a quick-release buckle made of a material similar to hard plastic.
