The Tatanka from Tenaya is a versatile and comfortable lace-up shoe that won't hold you back on wall climbs.
[T]his is a great shoe that excels at a wide variety of climbing.
For easily distracted climbers who boulder one day and tie into a rope the next, this shoe will serve well for every climb.
Overall, the Tenaya Tatanka is an incredible all-around shoe that performs at an elite level without the typical pain of aggressive shoes.
-This Tenaya rock climbing shoe provides an optimal balance between performance and comfort. The SXR Dynamics feature uses the biomechanical characteristics of the foot for a more intuitive ascent.
-Tatanka’s microfiber upper protects the foot against the harsh outdoors without compromising comfort. A semi-rigid midsole and grippy Vibram outsole work together for enhanced climbing performance.
Downturn. Tenaya’s Tatanka is a moderately downturned rock climbing shoe. Its asymmetric design gives precision and comfort in various rock climbing situations. In addition, this asymmetry promotes the transfer of force from the big toe to the rock, optimizing a secure foothold.
Application. Tenaya product engineers created the Tatanka as a rock shoe ideal for use in vertical and moderate overhangs. It is equipped with technologies that enable it to deliver precision even on small edges and rounded cracks. Thanks to these balanced set of features, the shoe offers performance without sacrificing comfort.
Tatanka is a unisex rock climbing shoe from Tenaya. Brand designers crafted it able to adapt to the width of the climber’s foot; hence, the FWR or the Foot Width Response feature. Its adjustable lace-up closure system allows owners to customize the tension across the foot, optimizing fit. It will not stretch much, thanks to its synthetic upper.
Midsole. Tenaya’s Tatanka employs a 2D PLT 10 midsole and a TST multi-layer Stretchtex insole. This duo offers a decent amount of rigidity and structure that allows smooth transmission of power from the foot to the rock.
Outsole. Thanks to a 4 mm Vibram XS Grip outsole (same rubber compound used in some La Sportiva rock shoes), the Tatanka is able to adhere to various types of terrain. The rubber that surrounds the base of the upper delivers extra stickiness, especially when smearing or edging.
Providing durable protection and comfort is a combination of microfiber upper lined with TXT-treated cotton. The heel cup prevents unwanted slippage of the rearfoot, especially when heel-hooking. Its perforated bellows tongue promotes breathability for a more comfortable feel.
The closure system employs a round, hardwearing cord that passes through synthetic loops and punched eyelets. Two pull tabs are situated at the rear end of the shoe, facilitating easy on and off. These tabs can also be used by climbers to hang their shoes on their packs.
- According to Tenaya product engineers, the Tatanka is best described as the Inti’s lace-up version. Tenaya Inti, on the other hand, is designed after the brand’s very own RA model.
