Sperry Seaside Liberty Fabric Sneaker History

The idea of Sperry first came to be when its founder, Paul Sperry, an avid sailor and keen inventor, had a brush with death while onboard a boat. He slipped off the deck and went overboard. Luckily, he was okay, but the incident prompted him to think about the shoes that sailors wore out at sea.  Without hesitation, Paul went on to find and create a shoe safe enough for sailors to wear.

He found his answer in the paws of his dog who could carelessly walk in thick snow without slipping. Paul adapted the paw pattern onto the outsole of his shoe and with it, created the first boat shoe. In 1935, Sperry sprang to life. From there, the brand went on to gain popularity for its boat shoes.

Today, Sperry has diversified. While still retaining and maintaining its legacy as the creator of superior boat shoes, it also offers lifestyle geared sneakers, too. Take the Sperry Seaside Liberty Fabric Sneaker for example. This slip-on sneaker is revolutionary both in terms of silhouette and design. It shies away from the usual Sperry silhouette and brings onboard a unique look with the fabric design upper and the slip-on feature. The Sperry Seaside Liberty Fabric is a definite welcome addition to the sneaker family.
