Stability and motion control add-ons are uncommon for workout shoes and are never present in CrossFit or weightlifting footwear. They are mostly found in walking shoes where the gait is easier to correct.

Updates to Skechers GOwalk 4 - Expert
- The GOwalk 4 - Expert is part of the wide range of Skechers walking shoes designed for the modern man. It derives most of its technologies from the original Skechers GOwalk 4 such as the engineered mesh for breathability and the Quick-Fit Portal feature at the back of the shoe. The most striking difference between the two models is that the GOwalk 4 - Expert sports a slip-on style while its predecessor uses a lace-up closure.
- Other shared features include the 5GEN midsole that also serves as the outsole. The Goga Pillars at the outsole provide a dynamic cushioning system for extended periods of comfort. There is also a Goga Max insole inside that amplifies the shock absorption of the midsole.
Skechers GOwalk 4 - Expert size and fit
Made specially to accommodate the shape and the dynamics of a man’s foot, the Skechers GOwalk 4 - Expert is only available in US men’s sizes from 7 to 16, also in half sizes. Widthwise, it only comes in a D - Medium width profile. The tapering midfoot design of the midsole allows it to hug and support the arch area better. As for the overall fit, the mesh upper provides a sock-like feel that allows for the natural expansion of the foot throughout the day.
The midsole of the Skechers GOwalk 4 - Expert doubles as its outsole. It is manufactured to be durable in order to withstand abrasive surfaces while walking. It is also flexible and has a tread pattern that facilitates multi-directional traction.
There are four visible buttons on the outsole; these are called the Goga Pillars. The circular structures provide adaptive cushioning, which means that it is able to adjust to uneven surfaces to provide consistent protection.
The midsole of the Skechers GOwalk 4 - Expert is made of the brand’s proprietary 5GEN technology. This cushioning platform is crafted to be highly responsive in order to keep the foot moving. It is also designed to attenuate shock to protect the foot from impact during each step. It is tapered at the arch to enhance support in this area.
Inside the shoe is the Goga Max insole. The insert adapts to the foot, amplifying the comfort and shock absorption delivered by the midsole. It is lined with a bamboo fabric which is responsible for keeping odor at bay.
Protecting the feet from outside elements is the engineered mesh upper. The material is lightweight and pliable, accommodating natural foot expansion while walking. There are also air mesh side panels on the Skechers GOwalk 4 - Expert that help aerate the foot chamber. Its seamless construction ensures that nothing irritates the foot from the inside for all-day comfort.
The collar is lightly padded for a snug fit. At the back is the Quick-Fit Portal which a user can hook a finger in so the shoe is easier to pull up.
Synthetic overlays are present on the toe, the heel, and the Quick-Fit Portal. They reinforce these high-wear areas, protecting the underlying mesh from abrasion. The overlay at the heel also holds the foot steady.
