  • Cushioning: With the brand’s premium Hyperburst midsole, this Skechers shoe offers some of the softest experiences among running shoes. It’s also described as responsive and bouncy.
  • Toebox room: Most reviewers appreciated the ample forefoot space. One even mentioned that it’s “one of the roomiest toeboxes among Skechers running shoes.”

  • Tongue: One runner was not happy with the “paper-thin tongue”, saying that he can feel the lace pressure through it.

Bottom line

As simple as it gets, Skechers GOrun Ride 9 still manages to tick all the boxes of a highly functional daily trainer. Very light and neutral, it helps to make those long-distance and recovery runs a breeze.

Although it’s not a speedster like its Skechers Razor counterpart, Ride 9 works best at slower paces but doesn’t fail if you speed up occasionally.

Skechers GOrun Ride 9 (Hyper): solid daily trainer

It is the ninth update to the acclaimed GOrun Ride daily trainer series from Skechers.

Featuring the brand’s magic-formula Hyperburst midsole, it boasts an impressive cushioning-to-weight ratio. Firmer than that in the Skechers MaxRoad 4, it works admirably from slower, recovery paces up to moderate tempo runs.

GOrun Ride 9 vs. Ride 8: a step-up

A few significant changes are introduced in version 9:

  • Lighter weight: 1 oz (28 g) less
  • Added stack height: 1mm more
  • Less stiff: the forefoot now bends easier thanks to the flex grooves
  • Added rocker: a bit quicker on transitions
  • Lighter upper: less bulk

Other Skechers shoes to consider

For speedy training, consider Razor+ (less cushion but lighter and snappier) or the more recent Razor Excess (highly-cushioned but more aggressive ride). Both can double for competition too.
