  • 94 / 100 | Road Trail Run | | Level 5 expert

The MaxTrail 5 Ultra is an outstanding all day shoe due to it’s comfort, cushion, responsive get up and go and light weight.

  • 94 / 100 | Road Trail Run | | Level 5 expert

Bottom line: for trails that are smooth, moderate in grade and technicality, the Max Trail 5 is about as much fun, dynamic and comfortable as any trail shoe I have ever taken out.

  • 93 / 100 | Road Trail Run | | Level 5 expert

A perfectly executed trail shoe, built for the long haul! It can be used as a general trail cruiser just getting you out the door for a few miles, or better yet, for the Ultra scene.

  • 80 / 100 | Road Trail Run | | Level 2 expert

The Max Trail 5 Ultra is no exception to this radical approach and I love it! For moderate trails it is a super fun shoe that feels like nothing else out on the market.

  • The Skechers GOrun MaxTrail 5 Ultra is a trail running shoe that’s designed for those who have neutral pronation. It features an external pad that is meant for tackling the unpredictable outdoor terrains. Aggressive gripping lugs encourage surface control while a full-length plate protects against abrasion and contact with jagged debris.
  • Underfoot cushioning is the responsibility of the ULTRA FLIGHT™ foam. It is a lightweight yet dense compound that’s responsible for maintaining comfort throughout the running session. Raised sidewalls offer in-shoe steadiness.
  • The upper unit has a knit-fabric to offer a form-fitting yet breathable coverage. A knitted collar acts as an encompassing barrier that prevents debris from entering the foot-chamber. Printed overlays and straps near the heel section assist the lacing system when it comes to averting wobbling and accidental shoe-removals.

The Skechers GOrun MaxTrail 5 Ultra is a bit large. Runners are encouraged to accommodate their regular preferences when it comes to size. Widthwise, the available options are D – Medium for men and B – Medium for women.

The Strobel last locks the upper and the sole unit together via a stitching process. A full-length fabric connects the lasting board, the end of the textile upper, and the platform. Such a configuration heightens durability while potentially improving underfoot comfort.

Resagrip® is an outsole arrangement that’s made up of a durable rubber compound and a set of aggressive gripping lugs. The purpose of the material is to shield the rest of the platform from wear-and-tear. The job of the traction nodes is to provide surface grip when tackling all types of outdoor terrain.

The Dupont® Hytrel® is a durable plate that’s designed to act as a shield against the abrasive nature of the trails. It also steadies the muscles and tendons of the underfoot while encouraging an energized forefoot lift.

The midfoot strike zone establishes a platform configuration that focuses on a midfoot landing manner. Such a mechanism is considered to be more effective at delivering speed and dispersing impact shock than striking using the heel.

ULTRA FLIGHT™ is a compound that runs the entire length of the Skechers GOrun MaxTrail 5 Ultra. The purpose of this foam unit is to protect the foot from impact and irregular surface while also giving a springy underfoot experience.

Side walls are erected to prevent the foot from quavering or desynchronizing with the midsole platform during the running session.

Two drainage holes are placed in each side of the foam sole. These ports are meant to drain H2O from the foot-chamber when water immersion occurs. Moreover, it accommodates air, thereby maintaining an unstuffy in-shoe experience.

A seamless knit-material is used for the upper unit of this Skechers shoe for running. This fabric resembles cloth, and it offers a form-fitting wrap that is not stiff or restrictive. Furthermore, it’s lightweight and breathable.

The collar is made purely out of stretchy fabric. Such a design mimics the feeling of merely wearing a sock. Elastic opening hugs the top of the instep, the ankles, and the heel, fundamentally securing the foot in the interior chamber.

Printed overlays bolster the upper’s structural integrity, and they help in providing a snug and secure fit.

A quarter strap is placed on both sides of the upper unit. This add-on connects to the lacing system via a lace-eyelet. When the shoe-laces are adjusted, the band reacts, thereby causing the heel cover system to be as adjustable as the midfoot section.

A pull tab on the heel portions of the collar helps the foot when it comes to entering or exiting the shoe.
