3 reasons not to buy

  • It is a very expensive shoe.
  • The GOmeb Speed Elite is only in limited edition.

Bottom line

The Skechers GOmeb Speed Elite is a new twist in the lightweight racer that is specifically released to commemorate the 2016 Olympics. It works very well as a transition shoe for those who are looking towards more minimalist shoes. The shoe provides a superior foot-hugging wrap that covers the foot in support and comfort. Runners who are looking for a stylish and responsive shoe should make a beeline as this is only in limited edition.

The midsole plate should give the shoe a very good pop.

  • Skechers comes up with something very nice for the 2016 Olympics in Brazil in a shoe that is geared towards those looking for a fast and responsive ride. Based on Meb’s inputs, the GOmeb Speed Elite is a limited edition of a shoe that offers a proprietary midsole foam for lightweight cushioning.
  • Giving runners plenty of zip in their runs is a brand-exclusive carbon plate in the midsole. The technology also enhances torsional rigidity and support for a shoe that has more than enough minimalist features.
  • The pliable and plush GOknit upper really wraps the foot in comfort and support. It envelops the foot like a second skin to allow runners excellent freedom of movement.

The shoe is tailored for those with a slightly narrow to medium fit. Like most racers, this one has a fit that enfolds the entire foot from the heel to the forefoot. There is adequate heel support and security because of the pliable carbon fiber heel counter, a snug midfoot, and enough wiggle room in the toes. It runs true to size.

The outsole is relatively thick for a very light shoe. It is covered with regular-sized lugs that come in different shapes. Skechers uses what it calls a Parametric web or a surface that almost resembles a spider’s netting for added traction.

A 5Gen midsole of moderate thickness spans the entire midsole. It is made of Skechers’ own material and technology that give Skechers running shoes a responsive, durable, and adequately cushioned ride. Between the midsole and the outsole of the GOmeb Speed Elite is a thin slice of carbon fiber plate. It greatly helps with the responsiveness of the shoe and gives the ride more support and stability.

The very unique upper is courtesy of the GOknit mesh, which is very breathable and delivers support and flexibility in all the right areas. There are also reflective materials all over the upper for night-time or early morning runs. A carbon fiber heel counter holds the heel really well without the stiffness or jarring support of hard plastic. Skechers provides a traditional lace-up closure to hold the fit.
