Updates to Skechers Drafter

  • Made for men who want a walking shoe that doubles as a gym shoe, the Skechers Drafter is built using materials that allow it to be versatile. It features an athletic knit mesh that keeps the foot chamber well-ventilated and allows the foot to move. It has an overlay panel that integrates with the lacing system and aims to brace the rearfoot when the laces are tightened.
  • The single foam cushioning serves as the midsole and outsole of these Skechers workout shoes. It is constructed to be durable to endure abrasion from concrete pavements and hard gym floors. It is also designed to facilitate the natural movement of the foot. The bottom of the sole unit features flex grooves that add to its flexibility and a tread pattern that provides traction to the underside.

Skechers Drafter size and fit

Created to accommodate the shape and dynamics of a male foot, the Skechers Drafter is only available in men’s sizes which are US sizes 5.5 to 14. For the width profile, it comes in D - Medium and 2E/3E - Wide. The bootie style delivers a snug fit. It also features a lacing system with an integrated panel at the midfoot to enhance the lockdown fit and lateral support offered by the upper.

Outsole

The midsole of the Skechers Drafter also serves as its outsole. It is crafted to be durable as it is intended to endure abrasion associated with walking on pavements and training on hard gym floors. Flex grooves enhance the natural flexibility of the unit to facilitate foot flexion. The tread pattern on this model is fabricated to provide traction on concrete sidewalks and various indoor surfaces.

Midsole

A full-length foam makes up the midsole of the Skechers Drafter. It is engineered to be soft, absorbing shock and protecting the foot and joints from the force of impact. It is also flexible to promote natural foot movements.

Atop the midsole is the Air Cooled Memory Foam. This layer amplifies the comfort offered by the midsole and ensures that the foot is kept fresh.

Upper

The Skechers Drafter sports a bootie construction. The upper is made of a nearly one-piece athletic knit mesh with knitted color and detailing. The open mesh fabric ensures that the foot chamber is well-ventilated. The inside of the upper is lined with soft fabric for a great in-shoe feel.

The lace-up structure utilizes embroidered eyelets that add durability to the holes. The lacing system integrates with the bracing overlay panels that wrap around the rearfoot. When the laces are cinched, the panels are drawn closer to the foot, thereby increasing the lateral support and locking down the heel. Laser-cut square perforations are seen on the overlays, contributing to the cooling effect offered by the upper.

The trainer has a high-apex front panel in place of a traditional tongue. This component keeps the instep comfortable. At the back, the padded collar completes the sock-like silhouette of the shoe. It aims to keep the ankle area supported and freed from irritation. Pull loops are attached to the back of the collar and at the apex to assist users in putting the footgear on quickly.
