Who should buy the Sidi Genius 7
Like other cycling shoes from Sidi, Genius 7 is designed to enclose the feet in a comfortable wrap. It is a solid option if you:
- Need a shoe that is equipped with closing mechanisms that allow for micro-adjustments so wearers can get the lockdown they want.
- Need a shoe that is also built with replaceable components that help the footwear last longer.
Millenium 5 sole
This Sidi road cycling trainer features a redesigned MILLENNIUM 5 SOLE. This compound is made from a nylon matrix that has been with carbon fiber. The result is a very stiff product that aids in effective power transfer from the foot to the pedal. The MILLENNIUM 5 SOLE does not get deformed with regular use or when subjected to different temperatures.
Pads made of polyurethane (PU) are placed on the heel and the toe sections. They make it easier for cyclists to walk when they are off their bikes.
Sidi Genius 7 cleat system
The Sidi Genius 7 uses a 3-hole cleat system. It is compatible with the following clipless road pedals: Look Keo Blade 2 CR, Shimano Ultegra 6800, and Time XPro 10. If you like Speedplay pedals like the Zero Chromoly, the Genius 7 can be fitted with Speedplay cleats with the use of special adapters. Markings are present in the cleat area. These lines help wearers align the cleat properly for an optimal pedaling position.
Microfibre microtech and mesh make up the top of the Sidi Genius 7. Mesh aids in foot chamber aerations. On the other hand, the MICROFIBRE MICROTECH is a lightweight material that has been treated with Water-Tech to repel water and keep the foot dry even when riding in the rain.
Found in the middle is the SOFT INSTEP 2. It is made of a broad strap with an EVA pad at the center, allowing it to comfortably accommodate high or low insteps. It can be adjusted on both sides, so the foam pad can always be kept in the center for even pressure.
Keeping the SOFT INSTEP 2 in place is the caliper buckle. Lifting the central buckle cranks up the tightness while lifting both sides of the buckle releases it. The caliper is designed to be quick to adjust so it can be tweaked even while riding on the bike.
Two HIGH SECURITY VELCRO straps are found below the caliper. What differentiates them from typical Velcro is that they have integrated locking polymer teeth. The plastic-like components bite each other when the strap is closed, delivering a secure grip.
Synthetic overlays form panels on the rearfoot. These elements prevent unnecessary heel movements to avoid power loss.
