What is it for? This MTB shoe is equipped with features applied to cater to the following cycling pursuits:
- Cyclocross racing
- Spontaneous rides, from the road to gravel and trail.
Rigidity. The Shimano XC701 employs carbon fiber reinforced soles. This material is lightweight and very rigid. It is rated 9 out of 12 in the brand's stiffness index chart.
High traction. These cycling shoes offer excellent grip and durability with an exclusive Michelin tread pattern and dual-density rubber compounds.
Additional slots for toe spikes. These optional features offer the choice for wearers to further enhance this shoe's traction for extreme conditions. These spike slots can accommodate 18 mm spikes. Note that the spikes are sold separately.
The Shimano XC701 features the traditional two-bolt MTB cleat system. Some of the pedals that suit this shoe are: Shimano Saint SPD M820, Time Speciale 8 and Look Cycle X-Track En-rage Plus.
Markings are provided in the cleat area to serve as a guide in precise cleat positioning.
Comfort. Crafted with supple, perforated synthetic leather uppers, this pair provides a snug, comfortable fit.
Precise adjustment. Equipped with double BOA dials, the fit in separate sections of the foot can be customized. The forefoot and midfoot are governed by a BOA L6 dial and powerzone wire guides for easy to use and accurate fit.
Another BOA L6 dial and a strap are responsible for the fit in the top foot area.
The Shimano XC701 employs the brand's Dynalast technology. This feature is designed with a toe-spring section that supports efficient pedaling for lesser energy loss. It also prevents long-term injuries.
