Scarpa Zen Pro Mid GTX notable features

-The Scarpa Zen Pro Mid GTX, the ankle-supportive sibling of the low-top Zen Pro, blurs the line between burly hiking boots and lightweight approach kicks. It owes its waterproofness to its Gore-Tex liner.

-This approach shoe comes engineered with a couple of Scarpa-exclusive technologies: Activ Fit and Activ Impact. The former delivers enhanced approach performance without sacrificing comfort. The latter, on the other hand, helps users make efficient strides while giving the foot increased shock absorption.

-Its sole unit is mainly a combination of the shoe’s chunky midsole and Vibram’s Spyder II outsole. The upturned construction of its toe zone leaves the shoe with a rockered forefoot, which gives the user a gliding motion during transitions over flatter terrain.

Size and fit

Scarpa’s Zen Pro Mid GTX is an over-the-ankle approach shoe for men and women. It is built with the Sock Fit DV technology, which gives the shoe a sock-like fit, promising owners a pressure- and bunch-free fit, particularly around the instep. The last on which it was crafted (a.k.a. BN) doubles down on all-day comfort fit. Lockdown security is via the hiker’s to-the-toe lacing system.

Outsole

The Zen Pro Mid GTX is in the sticking business thanks in large part to its long-wearing outsole, called Vibram Spyder II. It is peppered with multi-sided protrusions (lugs) for extra anchoring power on loose-soiled earth and like surfaces.

The genius minds who created it furnished it with a heel brake and a climbing zone. The former allows for extra descent security, while the latter gives additional traction on low-rise boulders.

Midsole

This heavy-duty boot for approach hikes has a soft-yet-resilient midsole for underfoot cushioning and balance. Scarpa designers seemingly went all out with its heel zone, making it extra stout to provide as much shock mitigation as possible. It is made of ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA)—a rubber-like material characterized by high durability and rebound rate.

It is engineered with the P-Flex Lite insole for added cushioning. It also comes paired with the Comfort Fit footbed to up the shoe’s supportiveness.

Upper

The Zen Pro Mid GTX’s plush upper is made with a combination of S Tech fabric and 1.8-mm suede leather. As it is lined with Gore-Tex’s Extended Comfort membrane, its exterior is adequately watertight. This waterproofing tech also leaves the shoe’s interior sufficiently ventilated.

Its lower perimeter has a hard-wearing overlay for extra protection. Over at its forefoot is a rubberized rand for toeing grip.

The shoe’s ankle-to-toe closure uses a lace made of intertwined lace cords. It is set through heavy-duty eyelets, the upper ones of which are plated for added durability.
