  • The Scarpa Wrangell GTX is designed for traditional mountaineering and extended excursions. It has a full leather upper with a Gore-Tex laminate which renders protection and comfort on trails.
  • Underfoot, its EVA midsole and Vibram outsole form a rockered profile. This design promotes a smooth transition from heel strike to toe-off for a more comfortable stride.

The Wrangell GTX is a fairly true-to-size, unisex mountaineering boot. It comes in standard width and regular sizes. Scarpa non-plastic boots are based on European sizing which has smaller increments (compared to US sizing) between each size for a more precise fit. Generally, the brand designers recommend getting a half size bigger than the usual. As for women, they have to size down to get the best fit possible.

This footgear is shaped using the DL last. Its profile presents a high volume and roomy fit. Its lace-up closure allows users to customize the fit.

Using a crampon-ready Vibram M4 Tech outsole, the Scarpa Wrangell GTX grants stability on uneven terrain even when carrying a heavy load. It is made from Mont compound which maintains its grip even at very low temperatures. The clover-like cleats provide multidirectional traction. The ground contact on the heel and tip of the forefoot is widened to assist on ascents and descents. Its aggressive heel brake also aids on downhill slopes.

This high-cut mountaineering boot features the nylon Pro-Flex XT insole. This material is paired with an integral shank to optimize support. The footbed sits atop an EVA-MP midsole which renders lightweight cushioning and absorbs negative ground impacts. The boot comes with crampon connections at the heel and toe.

The Wrangell GTX from Scarpa has a Crosta Pro HS12 (2.8 mm), a durable leather which gives protection when tackling the trails. The HS12 treatment amplifies its water repellency. It is lined with a Gore-Tex Performance Comfort laminate which yields breathability and waterproofing with a bit of insulation.

With comfort in mind, the brand designers crafted it with a high-cut, cushioned collar. They also added a flex zone near the ankle area to permit smooth flexion.

It has a partial rubber rand at the forefoot which protects against accidental knocks and enhances the boot’s durability. Its double tongue is gusseted to prevent water intrusions and debris entry. Its lacing hardware includes open hooks and D-rings.

  • This boot is compatible with step-in crampons.
