- The Hunza GTX from Scarpa is a durable yet lightweight boot designed for long backpacking adventures. Its predominantly leather enclosure has proper water protection thanks to Gore-Tex’s waterproofing technology.
- It is built with the Activ Impact technology. This is a type of construction process that actively absorbs shock and improves energy transfer, thereby bolstering the efficiency of the wearer.
Scarpa’s Hunza GTX is a generally true-to-size, high-cut backpacking boot for women. Its confines are shaped around the LBE last—a gender-specific mechanical form that leaves the boot’s interior narrow at the heel while adequately wide at the forefoot. It comes in half and full sizes in regular width. Wearers can adjust its volume (resulting in a precise fit) thanks to the footgear’s quick lacing system.
The Hunza GTX’s capability to produce and maintain traction over different types of terrain is all thanks to its Vibram Biometric outsole. Based on Vibram’s XS Trek compound, this multi-lugged layer gets to provide trekkers with a kind of grip that works whether the terrain is wet, dry, or a combination of both. It has a prominent heel brake for more control and security during descents.
A dual-density midsole made of polyurethane (PU) is what provides backpackers with enough cushioning and stability in the Hunza GTX. Its stout build, especially around the heel zone, allows it to actively absorb shock on every ground contact. It comes paired with the Activ Fit insole for improved cushioning underfoot.
This Scarpa backpacking gear has a 1.8-millimeter nubuck leather upper. Gore-Tex Performance Comfort serves as its liner, making the boot equally breathable and waterproof. Its tongue and collar are both padded for ankle comfort. Its forefoot, on the other hand, is reinforced with a tough material for toe protection.
The Hunza GTX’s lacing system offers a personalized and secure lockdown. It gives the boot a subtle shimmer—a deviation from the footwear's mostly earthen look—thanks to its set of metallic eyelets.
