Saucony Originals Gold Rush Shadow 5000 History

The Originals collection is inspired by the brand’s classic releases that aims to rejuvenate Saucony’s appeal to long-time and new fans. Numerous models such as Jazz, Bullet, DXN Trainer, Grid, and Shadow has been reimagined with refreshing color schemes and equipped with the latest sneaker technologies.   

The Saucony Shadow shoes were initially released in 1985 and bore many similarities to the Saucony Jazz, which was released in 1981. It utilized a soft EVA on its midsole to deliver cushioning while the TPU on its the heel is there for support. The upper of the original Shadow is made from mesh and suede overlays.

Years after the introduction of the Shadow, Saucony released a follow-up version, the Shadow 5000. Among its update to the original is the reconstructed EVA midsole that allows for better support and impact absorption. Another update is the additional panels on its upper for enhanced stability. 

Recently, the brand released a revamped version, called the Saucony Originals Gold Rush Shadow 5000. The design of this sneaker is inspired by the famous gold fever in California during 1849.
