Good to know
Stability and motion control add-ons are uncommon for workout shoes and are never present in CrossFit or weightlifting footwear. They are mostly found in walking shoes where the gait is easier to correct.
Training footwear typically weighs between 200g and 300g per shoe to accommodate agile workouts. Minimalist trainers go as low as 150g, while weightlifting shoes can go as high as 500g.

Updates to Saucony Integrity ST 2
- The Integrity ST 2 is a neutral walking trainer from Saucony that caters to people with normal pronation who need only moderate cushioning. It retains the technologies and materials used in the original version but attempts to serve them with a sleeker design.
- The upper is still made of full-grain leather for firm support. It employs the Forefoot Stretch Zone technology for ample flexibility.
- The full-length compression molded EVA (CMEVA) is used in the midsole. It serves to provide responsive cushioning.
- An extra bounce is delivered by the High Rebound Compound (HRC). It is located in the forefoot section of the shoe.
- The brand’s proprietary ProGrid feature is used in the heel. It takes on the impact upon heel strike and aligns the foot for a safe heel-to-toe transition.
- The Walk Trac on the outsole works together with the midsole compounds. It contributes to the smoothness of the gait cycle.
Saucony Integrity ST 2 size and fit
The Saucony Integrity ST 2 is offered in a women’s version only. Lengthwise, it tends to run true to the sizing scheme. Ladies can choose from a wide range of width options, including 2A - Narrow, B - Medium, D - Wide, and 2E - Extra Wide.
The Integrity ST 2 utilizes blown rubber as the primary outsole material. It is designed to be lightweight yet hard-wearing to shield the platform without adding too much weight to the shoe. This rubber has a bouncy characteristic which contributes to the midsole cushioning. It is also made non-marking to make sure that the wearer doesn’t leave any scuffs or marks on the floor.
The patented XT-900 compound is strategically placed throughout the outsole. Made of carbon rubber, it aims to enhance traction and protection.
The Walk Trac technology is found in the midfoot section. It unintrusively guides the foot as it transitions from the heel to the ball of the foot.
The flex grooves in the forefoot section complement the Walk Trac. They allow the foot to bend naturally as it completes the walking gait cycle.
The Saucony Integrity ST 2 features a number of components that work together to deliver moderate underfoot padding. The lightweight CMEVA layer makes up the main cushioning. It is designed to be durable to provide a long-lasting and responsive platform.
The heel section employs a ProGrid cassette. It works similar to a tennis racket as it centers the impact and bounces back during the heel strike.
The HRC compound in the forefoot completes the work of the ProGrid and the CMEVA. Made of a responsive EVA/rubber material, it gives the foot a final rebound at the later stages of the gait cycle.
A cushioned insole is placed inside the shoe for added comfort and arch support. It can be easily removed if necessary.
A full-grain leather upper is utilized in the Saucony Integrity ST 2 for sturdy support. The toe cap, the midfoot, and the rearfoot are more prone to abrasion and are reinforced with extra overlays.
The Forefoot Stretch Zone is added for flexibility. It offers a more forgiving fit in the area where the foot needs to bend.
The forefoot area is designed to be spacious. It allows for the toes to splay comfortably.
The plush collar eliminates undesirable irritation in the ankle area and prevents heel slippage. The padded tongue shields the instep from the pressure created by the shoelaces.
