4 reasons to buy

  • Comfort: The Cohesion 14's cushion almost feels more like a "bedroom slipper" than a running shoe. It's very comfortable that even runners with arthritis praise it.
  • Grip: Even on rainy-day runs, the shoe has solid traction.
  • Fit: It's snug in the heel and the midfoot, thanks to the overlays, and opens up in the forefoot.
  • Stability: Adding to the secure wrap of the shoe are the padded collar and tongue. They keep the foot locked in place without causing hot spots.

2 reasons not to buy

  • Firm sole: While doing training runs, experts have noted that the outsole is too rigid. It's like their feet were "striking the ground hard."
  • Rough upper: It's a bit scratchy.

Bottom line

Trusty and delivering a feel-good run, the Cohesion 14 from Saucony sure does a decent job for a low-priced trainer. This makes it a perfect choice for newbies who are still getting into the world of running.

It's not the most advanced trainer — it's a "no-frills, old-fashioned" training flat that gets the job done. And with the technologies it possesses, it is best suited for slow-paced long runs.

Saucony Cohesion 14 vs. 13: "Little to no difference"

The Cohesion 14 has minimal changes employed from its predecessor. As a matter of fact, only the outsole of the 14th version of the Cohesion has changed. Here are the implemented updates:

  • There are more flex grooves on the forefoot. This is intended to amp up the shoe's lightness and pliability.
  • To up the shoe's grip, the lug pattern has been redesigned.

Nice to know

The Saucony Cohesion 14 also has a trail version — Cohesion 14 TR. Although equipped with more upper protection and aggressive outsole traction, they are both priced similarly.

For those with wide feet, the Saucony Cohesion 14 is offered in a wide version.
