Use - Just like the Nike Zoom D, the Saucony Ballista 2 is a track and field running shoe that is intended to deliver optimal performance in middle-distance races. These races can range from 800 meters to a mile.
Spike Type - It employs 6 removable pyramid spikes that are ⅜- inch in diameter. These pyramid spikes enable superb traction, especially on rubber surfaces. These are responsible for the grip of the shoe, especially during sudden direction shifts.
Spike Plate - The Ballista 2 features a multi-compound spike plate that is firm and durable. It accommodates the 6 removable spikes of the shoe with its spike receptacles. This component is meant to deliver traction for a faster and more efficient ride.
- The Saucony Ballista 2 has gone through some refinements in order for it to become the unique and reliable track spike that it is today. One of the updates in this shoe is the integration of its new woven upper for a snug fit. Prior to this iteration, the Ballista utilized an open mesh upper.
- In addition, the Saucony Ballista 2 no longer employs a Pebax® plate. It now deploys a multi-compound spike plate that is built to provide aggressive traction. The XT LITE material found in the heel of the shoe’s predecessor is no longer employed by the Ballista 2.
The woven upper of the Ballista 2 is responsible for its tight yet comfortable wrap around the foot. Moreover, the Flex Film overlay welded into the upper of the shoe allows support and structural integrity. Its lace-up closure, meanwhile, provides a customizable fit to the foot.
The Saucony Ballista 2 is available in standard sizing scheme for both men and women. Thus, you can purchase a pair using your usual sizing preference.
Traction is one of the elements the can power a runner’s speed. That is why the Saucony Ballista 2 is fashioned with a firm multi-compound spike plate. This material allows for an efficient energy transfer with each of the runner’s stride, as well as, superb traction. It is also very lightweight, thus, enhancing the speed of the runner.
One of Saucony’s prized innovations is its SSL EVA midsole. This midsole component is also found in other Saucony track spikes and is tasked for the shoe’s cushioning. It is a premium midsole that is extremely lightweight and enhances the rebound properties of the Ballista 2.
The Ballista 2 features a new and improved woven upper that secures a snug and lightweight fit. This upper material also allows a locked-in fit over the footbed. To augment this further, Flex Film overlay is bonded to the upper to provide for structural integrity and support.
For customizable and comfortable security, a lace-up closure is integrated into the shoe’s fashion.
