Notable features of the Salomon X Crest
- With a stable, cushioned EVA midsole based on the Salomon X Ultra, the X Crest features a comfortable fit that gives you stability on the trail.
- It has the Contagrip MD outsole that delivers reliable grip on varying terrain.
- This Salomon hiking shoe has a durable synthetic upper that protects the foot against the elements.
X Crest: Offering a precise fit
The Salomon X Crest low-top hiking shoe is constructed using the brand-exclusive SensiFit technology in which the foot is cradled from the midsole to the lacing system.
This creates a snug, secured, and customized fit. Since it's a low-cut model, this shoe provides less support and coverage around the ankle. Nevertheless, it greatly promotes freedom of movement.
Also, the tongue and collar are lightly padded for comfort and there's a pull loop at the back to help with wearing or taking it off.
The X Crest has a traditional lacing system for easy and effective adjustment of the fit.
Durable grip
Salomon is known for making high-quality hiking shoes with rugged outsoles. Like most of the best-selling Salomon shoes, this model uses the Contragrip rubber compound for its outsole system.
Contragrip soles are known for their durability. What makes them unique is that they are made from rubber compounds with different densities. This means that some parts or areas of the sole are softer than the rest.
How does it benefit the wearer? Basically, it provides flexibility and rigidness where they are needed.
The areas that are prone to wearing are denser or harder and some parts, such as the central column of the outsole, are softer to allow more flexibility.
Salomon X Crest: Responsive and protective
The X Crest has the EnergyCell midsole which is made of EVA. This lightweight foam is touted for its incredible ability to absorb shock. It also delivers a high bounce rate, which helps reduce the impact and prevent injury.
This Salomon shoe comes with an Ortholite footbed cut to the shape of the inner shoe for a comfortable fit.
This removable insole is breathable, soft, and supportive.
Made to last
The shoe upper is made of synthetic materials, including mesh, which is reinforced by PU-coated leather overlays.
There's a rubber toe cap for protection against bumps and sharp objects, and a mudguard that doesn't just protect against the mud but also strengthens the overall construction of the shoe.
