- The Harmony SMT is one of the many cross-training shoes from Ryka. It features a mesh upper that keeps the inside of the trainer ventilated. A combination of leather and synthetic overlays gives it its structure and style.
- The midsole is made from abrasion-resistant ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) foam. This material is durable, flexible and protects the foot from the force of impact with each step. The EVA extends to the outsole but is reinforced with rubber for long-lasting performance.
The Harmony SMT is only available in women’s version. It is true to size and comes in B – Medium and D – Wide width profiles. Because of the different widths, consumers are advised to try the shoe in person to get an agreeable fit.
A combination of rubber and abrasion-grade EVA foam makes up the sole of the Harmony SMT. Rubber withstands the normal wear and tear associated with everyday use and training. It is also resilient and has anti-slip properties.
On the other hand, EVA is lighter than rubber, has shock absorbing qualities, and can go back to its original form when bent. The combination of the materials makes for a flexible and durable outsole that absorbs shock and keeps the foot steady during routines. Inside is a Memory Foam sock liner. This foam is made mainly of polyurethane (PU) that has been modified by different chemicals to alter its density and viscosity. The result is a pliable material that conforms to the unique shape of each foot to deliver the highest possible comfort. A mesh fabric covers the sockliner which draws moisture away from the foot to keep it dry during use.
The Ryka Harmony SMT employs a mesh upper that is soft and breathable. It allows air to enter the foot chamber and maintain a cool and dry environment for the wearer’s foot.
A combination of synthetic and leather overlays protects parts of the mesh that are susceptible to high friction, such as the toe cap, the heel wrap, side panels and the lacing system. It serves to keep the mesh from easily shredding when subjected to intense use.
A traditional lacing system secures the foot inside the shoe. The round laces pass through a small slot on the tongue to keep it from sliding while in use. The trainer uses a padded collar and tongue that give comfort as well as offer support and stability.
The clip at the back of the shoe cups the heel and anchors it to the midsole. This structure locks the foot in place, preventing unnecessary movements while in motion.
