Reebok Workout Plus R12 History

Back in 1987, Reebok introduced the Reebok Workout Plus. The sneaker gained popularity and became one of Reebok’s classic silhouettes. The design of the shoe was originally taken from the profile of another classic from the brand: the Reebok Workout. Originally, the model was made as multi-purpose with its designed aimed at the lateral stability and individuality.

During the 25th anniversary of the Reebok Workout Plus, the brand celebrated through some re-releases and collaborative releases of the silhouette.

The brand partnered with the Swedish Denim label, Cheap Monday, and together they gave the Reebok Workout Plus a make-over. A two-tone denim upper construction covers the upper with hints both black and grey. The new look was finished off with bits of white on the tongue branding, sole, and on the side logo.

Another collaborative release for the Reebok Workout Plus took place that same year. It was still a part of the silhouette’s 25th-anniversary celebration. The Reebok Workout Plus x Titolo showcases a brown suede upper with bits of blue and cream and flecks of blue on its white sole. The D-ring eyelets and the blue and yellow laces complete the look of the shoe.

The Caterpillar x Reebok Workout Plus also came out as a continuation of the 25th-anniversary celebration of the silhouette. The Caterpillar brand which is known for making and producing construction gears and vehicles gave the silhouette their iteration. The new look for the shoe features a beige suede upper, a CAT branding, and a gum rubber sole. The moot style eyelet and boot laces finish off the look of the shoe.

The Reebok Vintage Workout Plus was also released in 2012 as a part of Reebok’s “Vintage Pack.” The shoe retained its original design with a nubuck upper and the Reebok branding presented on its side panels and tongue.

Another release made by the brand for the Reebok Workout Plus silhouette. The Reebok Workout Plus R12 came and featured a soft leather and mesh upper and a contrasting brown leather panel. A two-toned laces compliments the look of the shoe.

Reebok Workout Plus R12 Style

With its origins from the classic Reebok Workout Plus, the Reebok Workout Plus R12 also displays versatility in style. This low-top sneaker allows the wearer to be experimental when it comes to matching up their outfits. With a good pick for the top, it goes well with a pair of fitted jeans, skinny jeans, regular cut jeans, and a pair of shorts. Throwing on the outfit of choice to match with the pair of Reebok Workout Plus R12, one is good to go.

The Reebok Workout Plus R12 basically shares the same fit as the regular Reebok Workout Plus shoe. Although this shoe is only offered in men’s sizing, women can still grab a pair by reducing the size with 1.5 to coordinate the shoe with their foot size. The sizes offered for the shoe range between size 5 to size 14 with half sizes also available. This low-top shoe is also offered in medium width.

The hiking boot-like makeover that was given to the Reebok Workout Plus R12 is one thing that builds the shoe’s image. The iteration that was done for the shoe gave it a fresh look yet still retains its classic aura.
