Kasseem Dean, an American Rapper turned shoe designer and Reebok executive focused on releasing “remixed” versions of original and nostalgic sneakers. One of which is the Reebok Pump Revenge. Its design was taken from Shaquille O’neal’s Reebok Shaq Attaq. The remixed shoe features a DMX midsole, a 3D Fuse Frame upper, and the same Pump lockdown system.

Cushion. The Reebok Pump Revenge features DMX in the midsole. It basically involves two kinds of foam stacked together. These foams differ in density and purpose. The foam nearest the foot, labeled as “C I”, is softer and feels a bit plusher than the more rigid and stable foam below, labeled as “C II”.

The top foam provides comfort and allows the basketball player to play for an extended periods, while the foam touching the ground ensures energy return, stability, and protection from impact.

Traction. The outsole features a pattern that is similar to the one used on the Reebok Pumpspective Omni: a full-length herringbone with grooves that are thick, flat, and widely spaced. The pattern extends to the medial side of the midsole for extra stopping power. The midfoot to the heel area of the outsole is hollowed out in the center, allowing for a smoother transition, especially when landing on the heel. The shoe can be used outdoors as the grooves in the outsole are deep and thick.

Length and Width. The Reebok Pump Revenge is true to size. Buyers can safely go with their standard Reebok basketball shoe sizes when purchasing.

Lockdown. What makes this shoe interesting is the added Pump lockdown system on the tongue. The technology was first implemented on the Reebok Pump 25 years prior. It involves having an inflation device stitched within the tongue. It is pumped by pressing a button.

The inflated tongue adds tightness to the shoe, creating a custom fit that accommodates different foot shapes and sizes. To deflate it, another button is pressed to release the pumped air. Assisting this technology are the shoe’s traditional lacing system and internal heel counter.

The upper is a remake of Shaquille O’Neal’s Reebok Shaq Attaq. This model, however, introduces new technologies, one of which is the 3D Fuse Frame upper. This is a lightweight, synthetic construction that combines fuse and mesh in targeted areas. The suede toe box and shiny patent leather on the side panels complement the said setup.

Internally, the shoe uses a textured inner liner that feels great on foot. The midsole comes with a thick insole and the DMX Foam. Lastly, the Reebok Pump Revenge features solid rubber on its outsole.

A “remix” of the Shaq Attaq, the Reebok Pump Revenge goes for a similar but flatter and more muted look. It still carries some of the original shoe’s nostalgic fame. Its lateral side has the Reebok callout printed on, while the word “pump” is on the tongue button.

The Pump Revenge comes in three original colorways:

  • White/Black/Blue
  • Black/Gold-Pink-White
  • Grey/Gravel-Purple colors
