Reebok Club C 85 TG History

The Reebok Club C 85 TG sprang from the Reebok Club Champion silhouette. From its original name of Revenge Plus, the model was rebranded as the “Club C”. It’s a tennis shoe that manifested the casual sneaker fashion of the 80s. This classic can be found in places that are deprived of sneaker boutiques.

The Reebok Club C entered the sneaker scene in 1985. The original versions were made of leather uppers that have a comfy terry towel liner. During that time, the Club C became a favorite among casual athletes.

Reebok wanted a more streamlined and minimalist shoe that can cater to both athletes and people who just love their sneakers. It was not long before the Club C 85 moved from the tennis courts to the streets. In a short span after its release, it was already considered one of the up and coming tennis shoes of its generation.

The introduction of the Club C 85 Reebok also improved its size and sales, beating even Nike. One notable aspect of this shoe is the fact that regardless of Reebok’s acquirement by an American investor named Paul Fireman, the sneaker had its branding next to a British flag. The small oddity has not stopped the shoe from becoming a staple in sneaker world.

Reebok Club C 85 TG Style

The Reebok Club C 85 TG exudes a classic style. Its court heritage is brought to the modern world. The update is now made of soft suede and comes with extra cushioning. It is infused with 30 years of Reebok innovation. Its low-cut construction adds a genuine style element. The shoes are ideal for a variety of bottom wear such as tapered jeans.

Fit & Sizing

The Reebok Club C 85 TG is a shoe available in men’s sizing. Women who are interested in purchasing this item just need to go down 1.5 from the men’s sizing to get their best fit. Size range is from 3.5 to 15. While the shoe fairly runs true to size, Reebok recommends going a size up to people who are in between sizes to be on the safe side.

The Ortholite sockliner has a compression set of less than five percent so the cushioning and fit of the shoe are maintained for the long term. Users can adjust the lace up closure of the Club C 85 TG for a snug fit. The suede upper gives soft support to the foot. Its tennis shoe DNA provides the wearer a glove-like fit and lateral support.

Notable Features

Two things are quite obvious in the Reebok Club C 85 TG. It starts with the almost immaculate upper that is clearly a fan-favorite, based on the numerous rave reviews. The design and materials combine to offer users a versatile shoe that can handle almost any style.

The outsole is another worthy part of the shoe. This gum-rubber outsole not only offers a contrast to a monochromatic upper, but also enhances traction. Additionally, the outsole is very durable because of this gum material.

Additional Info

  • The EVA midsole provides decent cushioning and adequate shock-absorbing properties.
  • The sockliner has an antimicrobial feature that prevents odor from building up.
  • The “C” means Champion.
  • Reebok incorporates a high-abrasion rubber in the outsole for even more durability.
