Reebok Club C 85 OTC History

Tennis was prevalent sport during the 80s, which inevitably drove different sports brands to cater to the market’s demands. Reebok released multiple tennis performance shoes, and one of them was named Reebok Revenge Plus, which was introduced in 1985. Soon after, the brand decided to change the shoe’s name to Reebok Club Champion to better fit the sporting world of tennis. During that time, tennis implemented strict dress codes that had to be followed – minimal and mostly white in color.

Eventually, the Reebok Club Champion was once again renamed to its shorter version, Reebok Club C. The shoe retains its crisp and classic design, which helped make it a staple amongst tennis players in the 80s. The Reebok Club C is favored due to its superb quality in both fashion- and performance-wise.

In the 90s, basketball beat tennis as the most celebrated sport. At the same time, Reebok suffered losses from stiff competition with other brands. As a result, the Club C together with the other Classics was shelved for a couple of years. But, fast-forward to 2016 Reebok brought back the shoe by releasing the Reebok Club C 85 Vintage, which only proves that classics never go out of style.

Moreover, the Club C has been prominent in the urban community since its re-release. Famous rappers like Kendrick Lamar and Curren$y and brands like Palace Skateboards, Naked, and Concepts have all put their own twist on the classic pair.

In 2017, Reebok designers released different iterations that feature subtle changes to each shoe. One of them is the Reebok Club C 85 OTC, which comes with a unique milky iced outsole.
