Reebok Club C 85 ELM History
In 1985, Reebok released a performance tennis shoe and called it the Reebok Revenge Plus. Soon after, the brand changed the shoe’s name to Reebok Club Champion to better fit the sporting world of tennis. During those times tennis had strict dress codes that had to be followed – minimal and mostly white in color.
The Reebok Club Champion was once again renamed to Reebok Club C without altering its outside appearance. The shoe retains its crisp and classic aesthetic that became a staple among tennis players in that era. It is favored due to the shoe’s superb quality when it comes to both fashion and performance.
Like some Classics, the Reebok Club C was also taken off the shelf for a couple of years due to competition. But, fast-forward to 2016 Reebok brought back the shoe by releasing the Reebok Club C 85 Vintage, which only proves that classics never go out of style.
Moreover, the pair has been ubiquitous amongst the urban community since its re-release. Famous rappers like Kendrick Lamar and Curren$y and brands like Palace Skateboards, Naked, and Concepts have all put their own twist on the classic pair.
In 2017, Reebok designers released the Club C 85 in pastel hues and called it the Reebok Club C 85 ELM. Its timeless silhouette and soft tones make it a perfect pair for spring and summer.
Reebok Club C 85 ELM Style
The Reebok Club C 85 ELM has a style that is both familiar and new. It retains its well-known and classic silhouette but now finished with fun and light hues. It is low-key and free from today’s sneaker releases’ hype.
Pair it with shorts, jeans, or joggers for fun and stylish casual outfits. It could also be dressed in light colored clothes for the ultimate spring/summer look.
Fit & Sizing
The Reebok Club C 85 ELM is only available in men’s sizes. The gentlemen can choose from sizes 4 to 14, while ladies who want to cop can go down 1.5 sizes from their standard shoe size. The shoe generally fits true to size, but a handful of wearers mentioned that it could run big.
The Reebok Club C 85 ELM boasts of fun-colored uppers that can add oomph to anyone’s look. The shoe’s upper is made of leather for a retro look. Perforated detailing is placed on the pair’s toebox for breathability. Lastly, it features a terry towel inner lining for a cooling effect.
- The shoe is available in a pack called the “Elemental Pack,” wherein three colorways are included.
