Reebok Classic Nylon RS History
Athletic footwear brand Reebok was founded in 1895 and later joined the Adidas group in 2004. To this day, it remains as one of the reputable and well-established brands in the sneaker market that produces a variety of top quality and stylish sneakers.
Part of the long list of Reebok classic shoe models is the Reebok Classic Nylon - a lightweight low-top shoe made for runners in 1987. The simple design, performance, and affordability are the biggest factors that drove its popularity not just as a running shoe, but also as a fashion staple during the ‘80s era.
Though off the shelves for some time, the Reebok Classic Nylon made a comeback and brought a strong retro styling to the modern sneaker market. It has since released in many colors and versions with different material upgrades and design tweaks here and there. Among its iterations is the Reebok Classic Nylon RS.
The Reebok Classic Nylon RS merely is the "ripstop” nylon version of the Classic Nylon silhouette as it utilizes such type of nylon material on the upper for increased durability while allowing foot ventilation. It is available as early as 2015 with an assortment of colorways like the "Green Washed Jade/ Seaside Grey/ White/ Sandstone." In May 2017, the "Wheat" colorway made a debut, and in December of the same year, the "Black/ Steel/ Handy Blue/ White" colorway was introduced. More colorways are made available throughout the years aside from the colors mentioned above.
Reebok Classic Nylon RS Style
The Reebok Classic Nylon RS is a retro running-inspired sneaker that incorporates subtle modern design elements. It is made of suede and nylon upper that sits atop a sculpted EVA midsole and a high-abrasion rubber outsole. Like the Reebok Classic Nylon and its other iterations, this shoe is suited for everyday wear and can be paired with jeans, shorts or chinos for a casual look.
Fit & Sizing
These low-top Reebok sneakers are offered in men’s sizing from 3 to 15 in D Standard width. It features traditional lace-up closure for a secure and customizable fit, while the collar, tongue, and sockliner are all padded for the much-needed in-shoe comfort.
The Reebok Classic Nylon RS may appear just like the original Classic Nylon model at first glance since their only difference is the material upgrade on the upper. This particular version uses a ripstop nylon material instead of typical nylon, which allows increased durability that can withstand tearing and ripping.
- Other retailers refer to this shoe as Reebok CL Nylon RS. The CL stands for “Classic.”
- The RS in this shoe’s official name stands for “Ripstop” – a kind of nylon fabric that is more resistant to tearing and ripping.
- Suede overlays are featured atop a ripstop nylon base material for support and stability.
- The flat laces are tonal and made of cotton material.
- Also featured are EVA midsole for shock absorption and high-abrasion rubber outsole for long-lasting wear.
