Reebok Classic Leather NM History

Reebok has benefitted from the wonders of leather from the time it was formed in 1958, but it was only in the 1980s that the brand truly made a mark globally as it responded to the growing craze in fitness particularly in aerobics. It was during this period that Reebok capitalized on materials such as glove leather to prevent the shoe from breaking during workouts and training.

Specifically, in the Fall of 1983 Reebok introduced a multi-purpose Classic Leather, which was an upgraded variant of the 1970s’ mid-price running shoe coined Reebok Classic. Although the ‘70s edition came out in a variety of nylon colored upper with suede overlays, the improved Classic Leather was more desirable and in demand. The appealing soft leather edition, available in both genders, can easily be juggled as an athletic shoe, casual or luxe fashion option.

Apart from its aesthetic appeal, the Classic Leather sneaker is built with performance abilities, such as perforated air vents in its vamp for breathability as well as its EVA foam midsole with a Bi-Density Shock Protection System. This dual density impact absorption technology was made to fully provide comfort and stability to the foot while in motion.

Over the years, upgrades were built to the original Classic Leather sneaker.  One that was fashioned out of the 1983 model is the Classic Leather NM which retained the familiar curves of the vintage silhouette with additional suede detailing on the upper. This revamped edition included aeratable mesh underlays, lightweight midsole, and high-abrasion rubber sole to give the sneaker a sporty edge.
